Reconfigurable mobile device interfaces supporting authenticated high-quality video, audio, TV and multimedia services
Abstract
A method and apparatus for reconfiguring the audio and video interfaces of mobile devices is described. A system for configuring various surfaces of a mobile device for performing additional functions such utilizing the front and reverse side of a mobile device with reconfigurable larger displays for enhancing the visual experience for various applications such as in video, TV and medical imaging is described. A system for command and control of a media center with a mobile device is disclosed. A method for multi-channel processing of audio and video information over mobile devices is described. A method for biometrically authorizing and delivering of copy right content to mobile devices is disclosed.
Claims

providing on a first side of the mobile device one or more of a first interface and a first display; providing on a second side of the mobile device one or more of a second interface and a second display; coupling one or more of the first interface, first display, second interface, and second display to at least one processor, wherein the processor is configured to control operation of one or more of the first interface, first display, second interface, and second display.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first side is a front side and the second side is a back side that is opposite the front side.
3 . The method of claim 1 , comprising configuring one or more of the first display and the second display for viewing multimedia information.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the multimedia information includes one or more of audio, video, data, image, graphics, television and broadcast content.
5 . The method of claim 3 , comprising authenticating subscribers to one or more of an audio and video content service, wherein provision of copyrighted content is conditional upon one or more of authentication of the mobile device and authentication of a user of the device, wherein biometric parameters of the user are used for the authentication.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein one or more of the first display and the second display are independently reconfigurable.
7 . The method of claim 1 , comprising configuring one or more of the first display and the second display as a touch screen input/output device.

The method of claim 1 , comprising configuring one or more of the first display and the second display as rotatable around at least one axis to create a three-dimensional viewing experience, wherein the content delivered to each of the first and second displays is synchronized for integrated viewing of content as if the three screens are one.

The method of claim 1 , comprising coupling the processor to at least one transceiver having a plurality of channels for simultaneous and real-time processing of streaming audio and video information, wherein the audio information is presented on a plurality of speakers of the mobile device and the video information is presented on one or more of the first display and the second display.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein received audio and video information includes information received via a plurality of communication protocols, wherein processing of the audio and video information includes processing information of a first communication protocol and processing information of a second communication protocol that is different from the first communication protocol.
11 . The method of claim 9 , comprising displaying the video information on the first display using a first format and displaying the video information on the second display using a second format.
12 . A mobile device comprising:
one or more of a first interface and a first display on a first side; one or more of a second interface and a second display on a second side; a processor coupled to one or more of the first interface, first display, second interface, and second display, wherein the processor is configured to control operation of one or more of the first interface, first display, second interface, and second display.
13 . The device of claim 12 , wherein the first side is a front side and the second side is a back side that is opposite the front side.
14 . The device of claim 12 , wherein one or more of the first display and the second display are configured for viewing multimedia information, wherein the multimedia information includes one or more of audio, video, data, image, graphics, television and broadcast content.

The device of claim 12 , wherein the processor is configured to authenticate subscribers to one or more of an audio and video content service, wherein provision of copyrighted content is conditional upon one or more of authentication of the device and authentication of a user of the device, wherein biometric parameters of the user are used for the authentication.
16 . The device of claim 12 , wherein one or more of the first display and the second display are independently reconfigurable.
17 . The device of claim 12 , wherein one or more of the first display and the second display are configured as a touch screen input/output device.

The device of claim 12 , wherein one or more of the first display and the second display are rotatable around at least one axis to create a three-dimensional viewing experience, wherein the content delivered to each of the first and second displays is synchronized for integrated viewing of content as if the three screens are one.

The device of claim 12 , comprising at least one transceiver coupled to the processor, the transceiver including a plurality of channels for simultaneous and real-time processing of streaming audio and video information, wherein the audio information is presented on a plurality of speakers of the mobile device and the video information is presented on one or more of the first display and the second display.

The device of claim 19 , wherein received audio and video information includes information received via a plurality of communication protocols, wherein processing of the audio and video information includes processing information of a first communication protocol and processing information of a second communication protocol that is different from the first communication protocol.
