Abstract

The invention is a novel zipper slide comprising a pull-tab and housing and methods of using the novel zipper slide. The housing comprises four front projecting guide arms directing the disconnected zipper teeth either toward, or away from, each other and interfering with material that could become entangled in the zipper teeth or with the slide. Two of these front projecting guide arms are positioned on the top portion of the housing and the two remaining front projecting guide arms are positioned on the bottom portion of the housing. The housing further comprises four back projecting guide arms directing the connected zipper teeth either into, or out of, the slide and interfering with material that could become entangled in said zipper teeth or with the slide. Two of these back projecting guide arms are positioned on the top portion of the housing and the two remaining back projecting guide arms are positioned on the bottom portion of the housing. The novel zipper slide is affixed onto two disconnected rows of zipper teeth and by sliding the zipper guide along the rows of disconnected zipper teeth they are interlocked and joined together.

A zipper slide for a zipper comprising a pull tab and a housing having a front portion, a back portion wherein, a top portion having an adapter for receiving said pull-tab and a bottom portion, said front portion having four front projecting guide arms directing two disconnected rows of zipper teeth toward each other, two of said front projecting guide arms positioned on said top portion and the two remaining front projecting guide arms positioned on said bottom portion, said front portion having two front grooves positioned between said two front projecting guide arms on said top portion and said two front projecting guide arms on said bottom portion, each for receiving said row of zipper teeth said front grooves merging into one about the midpoint of said slide housing said grooves angling said rows of zipper teeth such that they join and are interlocked as said grooves merge and exit said slide housing at said back portion, said back portion having four back projecting guide arms, two of said back projecting guide arms positioned on said top portion and the two remaining said back projecting guide arms positioned on said bottom portion.  
   
   
       2 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four front projecting guide arms are not less than one-quarter the length of the housing.  
   
   
       3 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four front projecting guide arms are not more than two-thirds the length of the housing.  
   
   
       4 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four front projecting guide arms are angled not less than 5 degrees from a center line running lengthwise along said housing.  
   
   
       5 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four front projecting guide arms are angled not more than 45 degrees from a center line running lengthwise along said housing.  
   
   
       6 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four back projecting guide arms are not less than one-tenth the length of the housing.  
   
   
       7 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four back projecting guide arms are not more than one-quarter the length of the housing.  
   
   
       8 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four back projecting guide arms are angled not less than 0 degrees from a center line running lengthwise along said housing.  
   
   
       9 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said four back projecting guide arms are angled not less than 30 degrees from a center line running lengthwise along said housing.  
   
   
       10 . A zipper guide according to  claim 1  wherein said adapter for receiving the pull-tab is an elongated pull-tab lug running the length of and positioned on said top of said housing.  
   
   
       11 . A zipper guide according to  claim 10  wherein said elongated pull-tab lug is slidably and pivotally connected to said top of housing.

A device and method of joining two disconnected rows of zipper teeth wherein said device is a zipper guide having a pull tab and a housing having a front portion, a back portion wherein, a top portion having an adapter for receiving said pull tab and a bottom portion, said front portion having four front projecting guide arms directing two disconnected rows of zipper teeth toward each other, two of said front projecting guide arms positioned on said top portion and the two remaining front projecting guide arms positioned on said bottom portion, said front portion having two front grooves positioned between said two front projecting guide arms on said top portion and said two front projecting guide arms on said bottom portion, each for receiving said row of zipper teeth said front grooves merging into one about the midpoint of said slide housing said grooves angling said rows of zipper teeth such that they join and are interlocked as said grooves merge and exit said slide housing at said back portion, said back portion having four back projecting guide arms, two of said back projecting guide arms positioned on said top portion and the two remaining said back projecting guide arms positioned on said bottom portion comprising; affixing said zipper guide onto two disconnected rows of zipper teeth, and sliding said zipper guide along said rows of disconnected zipper teeth thereby interlocking said zipper teeth and joining said disconnected rows of zipper teeth.
