Abstract

Disclosed is a metal molding conduit assembly 600 . The assembly includes a conduit passageway 602 configured to pass a volume of molten metal 604 located upstream of a passageway blockage 606 that is formable in the conduit passageway 602 . The passageway blockage 606 is maintained soft enough to be pushed past through an entrance of a mold cavity 608 in response to the passageway blockage 606 experiencing the injection pressure applied to the passageway blockage 606.

1 . A metal molding conduit assembly, comprising: 
 a conduit passageway configured to pass a volume of molten metal located upstream of a passageway blockage that is formable in the conduit passageway, wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough to be pushed past through an entrance of a mold cavity in response to the passageway blockage experiencing an injection pressure applied to the passageway blockage.    
     
     
         2 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the passageway blockage is maintained engaged to the conduit passageway sufficiently enough to prevent the volume of molten metal from drooling out from the conduit passageway prior to the passageway blockage experiencing the injection pressure.  
     
     
         3 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough so that the injection pressure is sufficient enough to dislodge and push the passageway blockage away from the conduit passageway and into the mold cavity.  
     
     
         4 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the passageway blockage is formable by a blockage-forming mechanism that is configured to cooperate with the conduit passageway.  
     
     
         5 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the passageway blockage includes a plug that is formable in the conduit passageway by a blockage-forming mechanism.  
     
     
         6 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the passageway blockage is a thixo plug usable in conjunction with a thixo molding system.  
     
     
         7 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein a body member defines the conduit passageway.  
     
     
         8 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein a body member defines the conduit passageway, the body member includes a machine nozzle that is attachable to a metal-molding system.  
     
     
         9 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the volume of molten metal is injected into a mold at least in part.  
     
     
         10 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the mold is passageway-blockage receiverless.  
     
     
         11 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the volume of molten metal is a metallic shot having a volume equal to a volume of the mold cavity.  
     
     
         12 . The metal molding conduit assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the conduit passageway is configured to connect to a metal-molding system.  
     
     
         13 . A metal-molding system, comprising: 
 a metal molding conduit assembly including a conduit passageway configured to pass a volume of molten metal located upstream of a passageway blockage that is formable in the conduit passageway, wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough to be pushed past through an entrance of a mold cavity in response to the passageway blockage experiencing an injection pressure applied to the passageway blockage.    
     
     
         14 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein the passageway blockage  606  is maintained engaged to the conduit passageway sufficiently enough to prevent the volume of molten metal from drooling out from the conduit passageway prior to the passageway blockage experiencing an the injection pressure.  
     
     
         15 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough so that the injection pressure is sufficient enough to dislodge and push the passageway blockage away from the conduit passageway and into the mold cavity.  
     
     
         16 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein the passageway blockage is formable by a blockage-forming mechanism that is configured to cooperate with the conduit passageway.  
     
     
         17 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein the passageway blockage includes a plug that is formable in the conduit passageway by a blockage-forming mechanism.  
     
     
         18 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein the passageway blockage is a thixo plug usable in conjunction with a thixo molding system.  
     
     
         19 . The metal-molding system of  claim 13 , wherein a body member defines the conduit passageway.

 passing, via a conduit passageway, a volume of molten metal located upstream of a passageway blockage that is formable in the conduit passageway; and    maintaining the passageway blockage soft enough to be pushed past through an entrance of a mold cavity in response to the passageway blockage  606  experiencing the injection pressure applied to the passageway blockage.    
     
     
         26 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 maintaining the passageway blockage engaged to the conduit passageway sufficiently enough to prevent the volume of molten metal from drooling out from the conduit passageway  602  prior to the passageway blockage experiencing the injection pressure.    
     
     
         27 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 maintaining the passageway blockage soft enough so that the injection pressure is sufficient enough to dislodge and push the passageway blockage away from the conduit passageway and into the mold cavity.    
     
     
         28 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 forming the passageway blockage by a blockage-forming mechanism that is configured to cooperate with the conduit passageway.    
     
     
         29 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 configuring the passageway blockage to include a plug that is formable in the conduit passageway by a blockage-forming mechanism.    
     
     
         30 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 configuring the passageway blockage to be a thixo plug usable in conjunction with a thixo molding system.    
     
     
         31 . The metal-molding process of  claim 25 , further comprising: 
 configuring a body member to define the conduit passageway.

         37 . A molded article having a body made by any one metal-molding process of  claims 25  to  36 .  
     
     
         38 . A mold, comprising: 
 a body defining a mold cavity configured to cooperate with a metal molding conduit assembly, the metal molding conduit assembly including:    a conduit passageway configured to pass a volume of molten metal located upstream of a passageway blockage that is formable in the conduit passageway, wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough to be pushed past through an entrance of the mold cavity in response to the passageway blockage experiencing an injection pressure applied to the passageway blockage.    
     
     
         39 . The mold of  claim 38 , wherein the passageway blockage is maintained engaged to the conduit passageway sufficiently enough to prevent the volume of molten metal from drooling out from the conduit passageway prior to the passageway blockage experiencing the injection pressure.  
     
     
         40 . The mold of  claim 38 , wherein the passageway blockage is maintained soft enough so that the injection pressure is sufficient enough to dislodge and push the passageway blockage away from the conduit passageway and into the mold cavity.  
     
     
         41 . The mold of  claim 38 , wherein the passageway blockage is formable by a blockage-forming mechanism that is configured to cooperate with the conduit passageway.
