Method of covering a potted plant or floral grouping with a floral sleeve

Abstract

A method of covering a potted plant or a floral grouping with a floral sleeve. The sleeve has, in one embodiment, a plurality of randomly positioned overlapping folds disposed in a sidewall of the sleeve. The sleeve optionally has a detachable upper portion.

1 . A method of covering a potted plant or floral grouping, comprising: 
 providing a floral sleeve having an upper end, a lower end, and a body comprising a sidewall, the sidewall constructed from a material having a plurality of randomly positioned, overlapping folds, the floral sleeve initially constructed to have a flattened condition openable to an opened condition; and    disposing the potted plant or floral grouping into the floral sleeve after the floral sleeve has been opened to the opened condition.    
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the randomly positioned, overlapping folds are connected.  
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the randomly positioned, overlapping folds are unconnected.  
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 1  wherein some of the randomly positioned, overlapping folds are connected and some are unconnected.  
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the randomly positioned, overlapping folds are positioned over the entire surface of the sidewall.  
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the randomly positioned, overlapping folds are positioned over only a lower portion of the sidewall.  
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the floral sleeve has a gusset in the lower end thereof.  
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the floral sleeve comprises a detachable upper portion.  
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 1  wherein the lower end of the floral sleeve is closed.  
   
   
       10 . A plant package comprising a potted plant or a floral grouping covered by a floral sleeve having an upper end, a lower end, and a body comprising a sidewall, the sidewall constructed from a material having a plurality of randomly positioned, overlapping folds, the floral sleeve initially constructed to have a flattened condition openable to an opened condition and produced by disposing the potted plant or floral grouping into the floral sleeve in the opened condition.  
   
   
       11 . A method of covering a potted plant or floral grouping, comprising: 
 providing a floral sleeve having an upper end, a lower end, and a body comprising a sidewall, the sidewall having a plurality of slits in a lower portion thereof for enabling the lower portion of the floral sleeve to expand, the floral sleeve initially constructed to have a flattened condition openable to an opened condition; and    disposing the potted plant or floral grouping into the floral sleeve.    
   
   
       12 . A method of covering a floral container, comprising: 
 providing a cover having an upper end, a lower end, a lower portion and an upper portion extending from the lower portion to the upper end of the cover and openable from a flattened state, the cover constructed from an elastic material;    providing a floral container having an upper end, a bottom and a shape; and    disposing the floral container into the cover wherein a portion of the cover stretches and thereby substantially conforms to a portion of the floral container.    
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the lower portion of the cover further comprises a gusset.  
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the cover has a frusto-conical shape.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the elastic material is a natural or synthetic rubber or a rubberized material.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the elastic material is an elastic polyurethane.  
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 12  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the cover further comprises a detachable extension.  
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 17  wherein in the step of providing a cover, the detachable extension is sized to substantially surround and encompass a floral grouping.
