Claims

Abstract

The present invention provides a textile clamp for hanging textiles such as rugs, banners, fabrics, tapestries, and artwork. The textile clamp comprises a frame with at least one bar aperture, and a compression assembly comprised of a compression plate and a compression bar. The textile clamp may be coated with a non-slip material, and may also be provided with a hanger. The textile clamp is designed to support the weight of a textile, by compression, between the interior of the frame and the interior of the compression plate.

1 . A textile clamp comprising: 
 a frame having a first interior surface, a second interior surface, and a bar aperture; and,    a compression assembly comprising a compression plate and a compression bar.    
   
   
       2 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame is a three-sided slant faced frame.  
   
   
       3 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame is a four-sided frame.  
   
   
       4 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame is a U-shaped frame.  
   
   
       5 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame is a rectangular frame.  
   
   
       6 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame is a triangular frame.  
   
   
       7 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the compression bar has threads and the bar aperture has threads for receiving the threaded compression bar.  
   
   
       8 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the frame further comprises a ledge connected to the interior surface of the frame.  
   
   
       9 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the at least a portion of the interior surface of the frame further comprises a non-slip coating.  
   
   
       10 . The textile clamp of  claim 9 , wherein the non-slip coating is a rubber coating.  
   
   
       11 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the compression plate further comprises an interior surface containing a non-slip coating.  
   
   
       12 . The textile clamp of claim  1 l, wherein the non-slip coating is a rubber coating.  
   
   
       13 . The textile claim of  claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the interior surface of the frame further comprises a non-slip surface.  
   
   
       14 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , wherein the compression assembly further comprises a handle.  
   
   
       15 . The textile clamp of  claim 1 , further comprising a hanger.  
   
   
       16 . The textile clamp of  claim 15 , wherein the hanger has at least one aperture capable of receiving the frame.  
   
   
       17 . The textile clamp of  claim 15 , wherein the frame has at least one aperture capable of receiving the hanger.  
   
   
       18 . A kit comprising: 
 A plurality of textile clamps: 
 each textile clamp comprising a frame having a first interior surface, a second interior surface, and a bar aperture and a compression assembly comprising a compression plate and a compression bar; and  
 at least one hanger.  
   
   
   
       19 . A textile clamp comprising: 
 a four-sided frame having a first interior surface, a second interior surface and a bar aperture, a portion of the interior surface having a non-slip coating;    a compression assembly comprising a compression plate, a handle and a compression bar, the compression bar having threads and the compression plate having at least one non-slip surface; and    at least one hanger.    
   
   
       20 . A method of hanging a textile comprising: 
 providing a textile clamp comprising a frame having a first interior surface, a second interior surface, and a bar aperture; and a compression assembly comprising a compression plate and a compression bar;    placing a textile between the first interior surface of the frame and the compression plate;    manipulating the compression assembly so the compression plate pinches the textile between the compression bar and the interior surface of the frame;    hanging the textile clamp holding the textile from a structure.    
   
   
       21 . The method of  claim 20  wherein a portion of the first interior surface of frame comprises a non-slip coating and a portion of the compression plate comprises a non-slip coating.
