Abstract

A portable container ( 100 ) for carrying one or more tools has an outer surface ( 104 ) provided with means ( 114 ) for retaining a work surface, such as a chopping board, thereon. Retaining members ( 114 ), such as flanges and/or pins may be positioned at or adjacent the periphery of the outer surface ( 104 ). The retaining members ( 114 ) may be moveable and/or detachable. Alternatively, the retaining members ( 114 ) may be integral with the outer surface ( 104 ).

1 . A portable container for carrying one or more tools, the container having an outer surface provided with means for retaining a work surface thereon.  
   
   
       2 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the means for retaining comprises one or more raised members.  
   
   
       3 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the raised members are movable along the outer surface of the container.  
   
   
       4 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the raised members are detachable.  
   
   
       5 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the raised members are fixed.  
   
   
       6 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 5  wherein the raised members are integral with the outer surface.  
   
   
       7 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the raised members are a plurality of flanges and/or pins.  
   
   
       8 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 2  wherein the raised members are positioned at or adjacent the periphery of the outer surface.  
   
   
       9 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the work surface is a chopping board.  
   
   
       10 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the container has a second opposed outer surface having non-slip means.  
   
   
       11 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 1  wherein the inside of the container includes means for retaining one or more tools.  
   
   
       12 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 11  wherein the means for retaining tools includes a moulded tray, magnetic material and/or one or more clips.  
   
   
       13 . A portable container as claimed in  claim 1  wherein at least a part of container is made of plastics material, light weight metal or wood.  
   
   
       14 . A kit of parts comprising a portable container for carrying tools having an outer surface provided with means for retaining a work surface thereon, a work surface for retention on the outer surface of the container, and a set of tools for storing inside the container.  
   
   
       15 . A kit as claimed in  claim 14  wherein the work surface can be stored inside the container.
