Hardwood flooring assembly system and method
Abstract
A floor installation system comprises a fastening system for interlocking a plurality of hardwood floor members. The fastening system utilizes a plurality of main fasteners that pass laterally into each hardwood floor member at set intervals. Each of the main fasteners includes an elongated shank having opposite distal ends each provided with at least one radially projecting substantially annular tooth. The opposite distal ends of each of the plurality of the main fasteners are adapted to be matingly received in opposite bore holes formed in adjacent flooring members to form an interlocking fastener.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A floor installation system for interlocking a plurality of flooring members, comprising:
a plurality of main fasteners, each of said main fasteners having an elongated shank having opposite distal ends each provided with at least one radially projecting substantially annular tooth; wherein opposite distal ends of each of said plurality of main fasteners are adapted to be matingly received in opposite bore holes formed in adjacent flooring members to form an interlocking fastener.
2 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , wherein said at least one annular teeth is formed on said shank of said main fastener adjacent to the corresponding distal ends thereof
3 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , wherein said at least one tooth is generally in the shape of a sawtooth in a cross-section.
4 . The floor installation system according to claim 3 , wherein said at least one tooth has a substantially annular inclined side facing forwardly toward the adjacent distal end of said shank and away from said at least one annular tooth formed on the opposite distal end of said shank.
5 . The floor installation system according to claim 3 , wherein said at least one tooth has a rear side substantially normal to an outer peripheral surface of said shank.
6 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , wherein said shank has a substantially cylindrical outer peripheral surface.
7 . The floor installation system according to claim 1 , wherein an outer diameter of said at least one annular teeth is slightly larger than an inner diameter of the bore hole formed in said flooring members so that said at least one annular teeth snugly engages an inner cylindrical surface of said bore bole when said distal ends of said main fasteners are inserted thereinto.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
