Abstract
A device and method for cleaning a filter element. The device including a valve interconnected to a blowpipe. A nozzle is positioned at an end of the blowpipe and to direct a pulse of compressed gas into the filter element. The nozzle includes a body and a diffuser arrangement configured to direct multiple jest of the compressed gas into the filter element. The valve is arranged to provide access to each of the valve components from one side of a compressed air manifold.

A method of servicing a filter cleaning system for a gas turbine air intake system; the gas turbine air intake system including a frame with an apertured tube sheet and a plurality of filter elements mounted adjacent to apertures in the tube sheet; the gas turbine air intake system cleaning gas by drawing gas through an upstream side of the filter elements, through the filter elements, and through apertures in the tube sheet; the tube sheet having an upstream side with exposed upstream sides of the filter elements and a downstream side; the method comprising:
(a) accessing the filter cleaning system from the upstream side of the tubesheet;
(i) the filter cleaning system including a manifold arrangement and pulse valve arrangement; and
(b) servicing the filter cleaning system from a position only on the upstream side of the tubesheet;
(i) the step of servicing including having access to all parts of the pulse valve arrangement.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein servicing the filter cleaning system for the gas turbine air intake system includes servicing the filter cleaning system for a gas turbine generator that generates power.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of accessing the filter cleaning system from the upstream side of the tubesheet includes accessing gas filter arrangements mounted at the upstream side of the tubesheets, the gas filter arrangements including at least one filter element having a pair of media constructions.
4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the step of accessing the gas filter arrangements mounted at the upstream side of the tubesheets includes accessing the at least one filter element of the gas filter arrangements, the at least one filter element having a V-shaped construction.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of having access to all parts of the pulse valve arrangement includes having access to a valve body of the pulse valve arrangement, the valve body being partly positioned within an air manifold of the manifold arrangement.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of having access to all parts of the pulse valve arrangement includes having access to seals of the pulse valve arrangement that seal fluid communication between the pulse valve arrangement and the manifold arrangement, at least one of the seals being located within an air manifold of the manifold arrangement.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of having access to all parts of the pulse valve arrangement includes having access to a valve body, seals, a valve actuator, and a diaphragm of the pulse valve arrangement from the position only on the upstream side of the tubesheet.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of servicing the filter cleaning system includes removing an actuator from the pulse valve arrangement from the position only on the upstream side of the tubesheet.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of servicing the filter cleaning system includes removing a valve hat from the pulse valve arrangement from the position only on the upstream side of the tubesheet.
10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of servicing the filter cleaning system includes removing a valve body of the pulse valve arrangement from a manifold of the manifold arrangement, the step of removing the valve body being accomplished from the position only on the upstream side of the tubesheet.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
