Gun with user notification
Abstract
A gun is disclosed having conventional components and a holster. The gun has means for detecting removal of the gun from the holster, means for processing the output of the detection means, and means for authenticating the user of the gun. The gun has means for notifying remote authorities that the gun has been removed from the holster, means for receiving remote commands to lock the trigger and/or initiate a global positioning system. The gun has means for selectively locking the trigger from a remote location and means for selectively activating a global positioning system from the remote location.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 2 . (canceled)
3 . A method of monitoring the use of a gun, the gun having a sensor, a mobile telephony component for selectively establishing an audio channel with a third party and a holster holding said gun, the method comprising:
sensing with sensor the removal of the gun from the holster by a user; and creating a two way communication link between the user of the gun and the third party to authorize the user to use the gun.
4 . The method of claim 3 wherein the gun has a lock that is activated upon receiving a lock code from the third party if the user fails to be authorized.
5 . The method of claim 4 wherein the gun has a GPS system that is activated upon receiving an activation code from the third party if the user fails to be authorized.
6 . The method of claim 3 wherein the gun has one of a keyboard and microphone through which the user may provide an authorization code.
7 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
monitoring for a break in the communication link between the user and the third party; and reestablishing communication with the third party when the link is repaired.
8 . A gun assembly comprising:
a holster; a gun disposed in said holster; a communication element selectively activated to establish a communication channel with a third party; a sensor sensing the gun in the holster and generating a sensor output transmitted by said communication element to the third party; and a lock coupled to said gun and said communication element, said lock receiving a code from said communication element and in response controlling the operation of the gun by a user.
9 . The assembly of claim 8 wherein said communication element generates a locking code that disables the gun from being operated by the user.
10 . The assembly of claim 8 further comprising an input element for receiving an input code from the user, said lock being responsive to said input code.
11 . The assembly of claim 10 wherein said input element is a keyboard.
12 . The assembly of claim 10 wherein said input element is a microphone.
13 . The assembly of claim 8 wherein said communication element selectively establishes a wireless communication channel.
14 . The assembly of claim 8 wherein said communication element selectively establishes a VoIP communication channel.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
