System, method, and appliances for applying hair treatments
Abstract
A hair treatment kit has a hair foil, a hair holding appliance, and a tool for selecting hair to be treated. The hair foil may have a hook fastener anchoring strip aligned with the leading edge of the foil. The leading edge may be pinked to provide slots for picking and placing hair on the foil. The shoulders of the foil may be wider than the leading edge and may have a push flap for urging it forward. The retaining appliance has a base plate, the underside being partially configured with one component of a hook and loop fastener system, and a pinked edge to facilitate picking of hair from underneath. The selection tool has a rounded, pointed tip for picking hair, a flat, slightly curved, shaft, and a chemical applicator comb. The shaft may be rotated and inserted under the flap while the foil is being urged forward.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A hair treatment system comprising:
a flexible sheet with a leading edge, positionable on the hair of a subject's scalp, the underside of which has a hooked surface hair anchor strip adherable to said hair, said sheet incorporating at least one push flap, the hinge line of which is parallel to said leading edge, said push flap being folded away from said leading edge such that a tool may be positioned at any point thereunder for urging the flexible sheet forward, and a hair holding appliance comprising a base plate, the underside of which is at least partially configured with a hooked surface hair anchor strip and at least a portion of the edge of said base plate being configured with a pinked edge pattern.
2 . The hair treatment system of claim 1 wherein the flexible sheet has an upper surface for application of chemicals and an underside surface for contacting the scalp, and
at least one hooked surface hair anchor strip applied to one side along said underside surface proximate to the leading edge, the leading edge being pinked or straight, the flexible sheet being configured with shoulder cut outs on each end of the leading edge whereby a portion of the flexible sheet is wider than the leading edge, and the push flap being positioned on an upper surface of the flexible sheet parallel and proximate to the leading edge.
3 . The hair treatment system of claim 1 wherein the hair of the subject is drawn from under the pinked edge of the hair holding device and positioned on the flexible sheet, the leading edge of the flexible sheet being straight for placement on the scalp of the subject.
4 . The hair treatment system of claim 1 wherein the tool comprising a shaft portion and a spine portion, wherein the shaft portion is connected to the spine portion; the spine portion having a plurality of teeth extending from the spine portion in a direction perpendicular to the shaft portion.
5 . The hair treatment system of claim 4 wherein the shaft portion is flat, slightly curved and has a rounded, pointed tip for rotation and insertion underneath the push flap of the flexible sheet.
6 . The hair treatment system of claim 4 wherein the spine portion has a reservoir for the distribution of chemicals.
7 . A hair foil for use in hair styling procedures, comprising
a sheet of foil material having an absorbent upper surface, an underside surface that is heat resistant for contacting the scalp, and a leading edge, the leading edge being pinked or straight, at least one hooked surface hair anchor strip applied to the underside surface proximate to the leading edge, the sheet of foil being configured with shoulder cut outs on each end of the leading edge whereby a portion of the sheet is wider than the leading edge, and the hair foil further comprising a push flap on the upper surface of the sheet oriented parallel and proximate to the leading edge and folded away from the leading edge such that a tool may be positioned at any point thereunder for urging the foil forward.
8 . The hair foil of claim 7 wherein the hooked surface hair anchor strip spreads and holds the hair of the subject in a spaced pattern on the upper surface of the flexible sheet in conjunction with the leading edge of the flexible sheet, the leading edge being straight.
9 . The hair foil of claim 7 wherein the sheet of foil material serves as a barrier to protect non-treated hair.
10 . The hair foil of claim 7 wherein artificial or natural hair is positioned and fused to the upper surface of the foil.
11 . The hair foil of claim 7 wherein the upper surface of the foil is impregnated with hair dye.
12 . A hair holding appliance, comprising:
a base plate, the underside of which is configured with a hair anchor strip, at least a portion of the edge of said base plate being configured with a pinked edge pattern, the hair anchor strip being at least partially configured with a hooked surface.
13 . The hair holding appliance of claim 12 , the topside of which is configured with a hooked surface.
14 . The hair holding appliance of claim 12 , further comprising a top side hair clip.
15 . A hair holding appliance according to claim 12 , further comprising means for attaching a sheet of hair foil material.
16 . A component of a hair holding system, comprising:
a continuous length of hair holding base plate material, the underside of which is configured with a hooked surface, the edge of said base plate material being configured with a pinked edge pattern, whereby useful unit lengths of said hair holding base plate material may be cut from said continuous length.
17 . A component of a hair holding system according to claim 16 , the top side of said base plate material configured with a tacky surface suitable for attachment of a foil blank.
18 . A method for making hair foils for use in chemical hair treatment procedures, comprising the steps of:
using a continuous web of foil material with a width of at least twice the length of the sheet of a finished hair foil, applying a continuous strip of hair anchoring material to at least one side at about the center of said continuous web, splitting said web at about said center into two parts, and cutting each said part into individual foils.
19 . A method for making hair foils for use in chemical hair treatment procedures, comprising the steps of:
using a continuous web of foil material with a width of at least twice the length of the sheet of a finished hair foil, said web having an underside intended for placement against the scalp and an upper side intended for application of chemicals, folding a set of four adjacent fold lines into the center of said continuous web of foil material with the first fold turning back on the upper side, and the second fold turning back on the underside, the third fold turning back on the underside, and the fourth fold turning back on the upper side so as to place the first and fourth fold lines between the second and third fold lines, applying a continuous strip of hair anchoring material to the underside of said continuous web so as to cover both said first and fourth fold lines, splitting said web between said first and fourth fold lines into two parts so as to split said continuous strip of hair anchoring material, and cutting each said part into individual hair foils.
20 . A method for making hair foils according to claim 19 , said step of splitting comprising a pinking split so as to yield a pinked edge on each of said parts.
