Information record medium, and apparatus for and method of reproducing the same

Abstract

An information record medium is provided with: substantial information including video information and audio information which are related to each other; first reproduction control information to simultaneously reproduce the video information and the audio information out of the substantial information; and second reproduction control information to reproduce only the audio information out of the substantial information.

       12 . An information record medium comprising: an area for recording first and second substantial information; and an area for recording first and second reproduction control information for reproducing the first and second substantial information, 
 wherein the first reproduction control information and the first substantial information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the first substantial information, and    wherein the second reproduction control information and the second substantial information are recorded so that the second reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the second substantial information.    
   
   
       13 . An information record medium according to  claim 12 , wherein the first and second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first and second reproduction control information are subsequent to a management information including a menu.  
   
   
       14 . An information record medium according to  claim 13 , wherein the menu is one for selecting the first and second substantial information.  
   
   
       15 . An information record medium according to  claim 12 , wherein the first and second substantial information comprises video information and audio information, 
 wherein the first and second reproduction control information are ones for reproducing the audio information from the substantial information.    
   
   
       16 . An information record medium according to  claim 12 , wherein the first reproduction control information and the second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is consecutive to the second reproduction control information.  
   
   
       17 . An information record medium according to  claim 12 , wherein the first reproduction control information is one for reproducing the first substantial information, 
 wherein the second reproduction control information is one for reproducing the second substantial information.

An information record medium according to  claim 12 , wherein the first substantial information and second substantial information have a physical structure comprising a plurality of levels of hierarchy, and the first reproduction control information and second reproduction control information comprise control information for controlling the first substantial information and second substantial information, the control information having a logical structure comprising a plurality of levels of hierarchy.

An information reproduction apparatus for reproducing information from an information record medium comprising: an area for recording first and second substantial information; and an area for recording first and second reproduction control information for reproducing the first and second substantial information, wherein the first reproduction control information and the first substantial information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the first substantial information, and wherein the second reproduction control information and the second substantial information are recorded so that the second reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the second substantial information, 
 wherein the apparatus comprises:    a reproduction control reading device which reads the first or second reproduction control information; and    a substantial information reading device which reads the first or second substantial information based on the first or second reproduction control information.    
   
   
       20 . An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the first and second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first and second reproduction control information are subsequent to a management information including a menu, 
 wherein the first or second reproduction control information is read by referring to the management information.    
   
   
       21 . An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 20 , wherein the menu is one for selecting the first and second substantial information.  
   
   
       22 . An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the first and second substantial information comprises video information and audio information, 
 wherein the first and second reproduction control information are ones for reproducing the audio information from the substantial information.

An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the first reproduction control information and the second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is consecutive to the second reproduction control information.  
   
   
       24 . An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the first reproduction control information is one for reproducing the first substantial information, 
 wherein the second reproduction control information is one for reproducing the second substantial information.

An information reproduction apparatus according to  claim 19 , wherein the first substantial information and second substantial information have a physical structure comprising a plurality of levels of hierarchy, and the first reproduction control information and second reproduction control information comprise control information for controlling the first substantial information and second substantial information, the control information having a logical structure comprising a plurality of levels of hierarchy.

An information reproduction method for reproducing information from an information record medium comprising: an area for recording first and second substantial information; and an area for recording first and second reproduction control information for reproducing the first and second substantial information, wherein the first reproduction control information and the first substantial information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the first substantial information, and wherein the second reproduction control information and the second substantial information are recorded so that the second reproduction control information is nonconsecutive to the second substantial information, 
 wherein the method comprises the steps of:    reading the first or second reproduction control information; and    reading the first or second substantial information based on the first or second reproduction control information.    
   
   
       27 . An information reproduction method according to  claim 26 , wherein the first and second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first and second reproduction control information are subsequent to a management information including a menu, 
 wherein the first or second reproduction control information is read by referring to the management information.    
   
   
       28 . An information reproduction method according to  claim 27 , wherein the menu is one for selecting the first and second substantial information.  
   
   
       29 . An information reproduction method according to  claim 26 , wherein the first and second substantial information comprises video information and audio information,

An information reproduction method according to  claim 26 , wherein the first reproduction control information and the second reproduction control information are recorded so that the first reproduction control information is consecutive to the second reproduction control information.
