Abstract

An apparatus, that places an object ball in the palm of both hands of the athlete, for training the athlete to catch a thrown sports ball with fingertips and thumb tips rather than palms. The size of the object ball can be increased as the athlete's skill level improves. This apparatus teaches the athlete to control the sports ball with the fingertips and thumb tips. Because this apparatus is small and lightweight it can be used for training as well as performance enhancement.

11 . An athletic training apparatus comprising:
 a. a substantially resilient member; b. means for mounting said resilient member in the palm of a hand, wherein said substantially resilient member extends outward from said palm.

12 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said means for mounting said substantially resilient member in the palm of a hand comprises a strap having a first end and second end, and wherein said first and second ends of said strap are attached to said resilient member.

13 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 12 , wherein said strap is elastic.

14 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 12 , further comprising at least one cushion disposed on said strap.

15 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said substantially resilient member has at least one hemispherical surface.

16 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 11 , wherein said substantially resilient member is a substantially hollow ball.

17 . An athletic training apparatus comprising:
 a. a substantially resilient member having at least one hemispherical surface; b. means for mounting said resilient member in the palm of a hand, wherein said substantially resilient member extends outward from said palm, and at least one hemispherical surface of said resilient member is oriented away from said palm.

18 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 17 , wherein said means for mounting said substantially resilient member in the palm of a hand is a strap having a first end and second end, and wherein said first and second ends of said strap are attached to said resilient member.

19 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 18 , wherein said strap is elastic.

20 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 18 , further comprising at least one cushion disposed on said strap.

21 . An athletic training apparatus comprising:
 a. a substantially resilient member having at least one hemispherical surface; and b. an elastic strap having a first end and second end, wherein said first and second ends of said strap are attached to said resilient member.

22 . The athletic training apparatus of claim 21 , further comprising at least one cushion disposed on said elastic strap.
