Abstract

In certain embodiments, a headrest entertainment system is provided that includes a frame configured to be positioned within a vehicle headrest. The entertainment system includes a source coupled with the frame and configured to generate a signal to be reproduced within a vehicle. The signal includes a radio portion. The entertainment system also includes a monitor coupled with the frame and configured to reproduce at least the video portion of the signal. The entertainment system also includes a first aperture positioned on a first surface of the headrest and a second aperture positioned on a second surface of the headrest opposite the first surface. The entertainment system also includes a fan coupled with the frame and positioned adjacent to at least one of the apertures.

1 . A headrest entertainment system, comprising: 
 a frame configured to be positioned within a vehicle headrest;    a source coupled with the frame and configured to generate a signal to be reproduced within a vehicle, said signal including a radio portion;    a monitor coupled with the frame and configured to reproduce at least said video portion of the signal;    a first aperture positioned on a first surface of the headrest and a second aperture positioned on a second surface of the headrest opposite the first surface; and    a fan coupled with the frame and positioned adjacent to at least one of said apertures.    
   
   
       2 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 1 , wherein the first aperture is located on a first side surface and the second aperture is located on a second side surface.  
   
   
       3 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 1 , wherein the fan is positioned adjacent to the first aperture and is configured to direct airflow into a space formed within the headrest through the first aperture.  
   
   
       4 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 1 , wherein the fan is positioned adjacent to the first aperture and is configured to direct airflow out of a space formed within the headrest through the first aperture.  
   
   
       5 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 1 , further comprising a venting structure formed on a top surface of the headrest to permit egress of heat generated by at least one of the source and the monitor.  
   
   
       6 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 5 , wherein the venting structure is formed on a cover configured to selectively permit access to the source.  
   
   
       7 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 5 , wherein the source is a DVD player.  
   
   
       8 . A headrest entertainment system, comprising: 
 a vehicle headrest having a cavity formed therein;    a frame configured to be positioned within the cavity of the vehicle headrest;    a DVD player having a slot through which a digital video disc (“DVD”) can be inserted;    a monitor coupled with the frame and configured to reproduce at least a video portion of a signal from the DVD;    a heat management system, comprising: 
 a plurality of venting structures formed adjacent to an external surface of the headrest;  
 a fan coupled with the frame and positioned adjacent to at least one of said venting structures.  
   
   
   
       9 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein the venting structures are formed on two opposing side surfaces of the vehicle headrest.  
   
   
       10 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein at least one of the venting structures is formed on a top surface of the vehicle headrest.  
   
   
       11 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , further comprising a internal structure configured to enhance heat transfer away from at least one heat generating component.  
   
   
       12 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein the internal structure is formed on an electronic component or a housing therefore.  
   
   
       13 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein the internal structure is formed on a structure that is partly or occasionally exposed to the external ambient.  
   
   
       14 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein the internal structure is formed on a structure that is at least substantially entirely enclosed in the cavity.  
   
   
       15 . The headrest entertainment system of  claim 8 , wherein the DVD player being coupled with the frame is coupled with the frame such that the slot is adjacent an upper surface of the vehicle headrest.
