Abstract
A conversion tray is adapted to fit within a media storage container to convert the media storage container into a container adapted to hold a media cartridge. The conversion tray fits within the storage chamber of the media storage container and interlocks with the media storage container to provide a stable media storage configuration. The tray may be configured to hold a pair of media cartridges within the space designed to hold a single CD or DVD.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . In combination, a media storage container and a conversion tray;
the media storage container having a container body having open and closed configurations; the closed configuration of the container body defining a storage compartment; the container body having a first disc retaining hub adapted to retain a disc-shaped item of recorded media; and the conversion tray being disposed within the storage compartment of the container body; the conversion tray having a media cartridge storage chamber adapted to hold a media cartridge.
2 . The combination of claim 1 , wherein the conversion tray defines a hub lock that engages a portion of the first disc retaining hub to hold the conversion tray to the container body.
3 . The combination of claim 2 , wherein the hub lock snap fits to the retaining hub.
4 . The combination of claim 1 , wherein the container body includes a nest; the media cartridge storage chamber of the conversion tray being disposed above the nest of the container body.
5 . The combination of claim 4 , wherein the conversion tray defines a nest opening; a portion of the nest disposed in the nest opening.
6 . The combination of claim 4 , wherein the nest defines a finger access recess; the conversion tray having a projection disposed within the finger access recess to support the conversion tray within the container body.
7 . The combination of claim 4 , wherein the conversion tray includes a first pair of locating projections; each of the locating projections having a curved wall that engages the nest to support the conversion tray within the container body.
8 . The combination of claim 7 , wherein the base of the container body includes a bottom wall having an inner surface; each of the locating projections including a flat bottom wall that engages the inner surface of the bottom wall of the base of the container body.
9 . The combination of claim 7 , wherein the conversion tray includes second pair of locating projections; each of the locating projections having a curved wall that engages the nest to support the conversion tray within the container body.
10 . The combination of claim 9 , wherein the first pair of locating projections engage an inner portion of the nest and the second pair of locating projections engage an outer portion of the nest.
11 . In combination, a conversion tray and a media storage container for a disc-shaped item of recorded media; the media storage container having a container body configurable in open and closed configurations; the closed configuration of the container body defining a storage compartment; the media storage container having a disc retaining hub adapted to retain the central opening of a disc-shaped item of recorded media; the conversion tray engaging the disc retaining hub to interlock the conversion tray with the media storage container; the conversion tray disposed within the storage compartment when the container body is in the closed configuration.
12 . The combination of claim 11 , wherein the container body has a nest that surrounds at least a portion of the disc-shaped item of recorded media; the conversion tray defining a chamber adapted to retain a media cartridge; the chamber being disposed above the nest.
13 . In combination, a conversion tray and a media storage container for a disc-shaped item of recorded media; the media storage container having a container body configurable in open and closed configurations; the closed configuration of the container body defining a storage compartment; the media storage container having a nest adapted to surrounds at least a portion of the disc-shaped item of recorded media; the conversion tray interlocking with the nest to interlock the conversion tray with the media storage container; the conversion tray disposed within the storage compartment when the container body is in the closed configuration.
14 . The combination of claim 11 , wherein the conversion tray defines a chamber adapted to retain a media cartridge; the chamber being disposed above the nest.
15 . In combination, a media storage container and a conversion tray;
the media storage container having a container body having open and closed configurations; the closed configuration of the container body defining a storage compartment; a lock for the media storage container; the lock engaging the container body to lock the container body in the closed configuration; the lock having a lock element projecting into the storage compartment when the lock is locking the container body in the closed configuration; the container body having a first disc retaining hub adapted to retain a disc-shaped item of recorded media; the conversion tray being disposed within the storage compartment of the container body; the conversion tray having a media cartridge storage chamber adapted to hold a media cartridge; and the conversion tray disposed in a location that does not interfere with the lock.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
