Infant sitting support device

Abstract

A head and body support device for infants to facilitate sitting which includes a substantially upright back section and first and second wrap-around side arms that are flexibly attached to the sides of the front surface of the back support member. The first side arm extends outward from the right side of the back and extends around in a curvilinear fashion back toward the left side of the back. The first side arm and the back form a cavity therebetween which receives and supports the infant in an upright sitting position. The second side arm extends out from the left side of the back in a curvilinear fashion and overlaps the first side arm. Straps are attached to each of the side arms and a buckle is secured to the ends of each of the straps. The straps may be lengthened or shortened depending on the size of the infant and the amount of sitting support that is desired.

1 . A body support for supporting an infant, comprising: 
 a back support section, said back support section rising to a first predetermined height, said back support section having a front surface, a first side and a second side;    a first wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said first side of said back support section;    a second wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said second side of said back support section, whereby said front surface of said back support and said first wrap around arm form a cavity therebetween for receiving a baby;    said first wrap around arm and said second wrap-around arm rising to a second predetermined height, said second predetermined height less than said first predetermined height,    a strap attached to said first side arm and a strap attached to said second side arm; and    closure means to buckle the said straps together thereby retaining the baby in an upright position.    
   
   
       2 . The body support of  claim 1  wherein said front surface of said back support is contoured in a concave configuration.  
   
   
       3 . The body support of  claim 1  which includes a recess on said first side arm, said recess sized and configured to receive a baby's legs.  
   
   
       4 . The body support of  claim 1  which further includes at least one toy attached thereto.  
   
   
       5 . The body support of  claim 1  which further includes a handle attached thereto.  
   
   
       6 . A body support for supporting an infant, comprising: 
 a back support section, having a front surface a first side and a second side;    a first wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said first side of said back support section, whereby said front surface of said back support and said first wrap around arm form a cavity therebetween for receiving a baby;    a second wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said second side of said back support section;    a strap attached to said first side arm and a strap attached to said second side arm; and    closure means to buckle the said straps together thereby retaining the baby in an upright position.    
   
   
       7 . A body support for supporting an infant, comprising: 
 a back support section, said back support section rising to a first predetermined height, said back support section having a front surface, a first side and a second side;    a first wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said first side of said back support section, whereby said front surface of said back support and said first wrap around arm form a cavity therebetween for receiving a baby;    a second wrap-around arm flexibly attached to said second side of said back support section;    said first wrap around arm and said second wrap-around arm rising to a second predetermined height, said second predetermined height less than said first predetermined height.
