Abstract

A single-wall slat constructed either of plastic or of a composite material. The slat is designed for insertion by a machine into a chain link fence. Although the basic slat is surprisingly suitable for this purpose, stiffness of the slat is optionally increased by placing one or more strips on the face, or, preferably, on the face and back, of the slat, having a curved cross section for the slat, or adding angled wings to the slat. Serrated wings are an additional option, primarily for increasing privacy and for enhancing frictional retention of the slat within a fence. Preferably, the serrated wings are angled upward with respect to the longitudinal axis of the slat.
