Abstract

The invention relates to an in-plane-switching liquid crystal display for large pixel type scarcely producing defects and easily repairing defects. The in-plane-switching liquid crystal display 10 of the invention comprises a plurality of pads 34 , and each pad connects to a pixel electrode 42 . Besides, each pixel electrode 42 is surrounded by the common electrode 48 . When the pixels enlarge, the defects scarcely occur. Even if the defect occurs, the defect can be easily repaired.

1 . A display device comprising: 
 a substrate;    gate lines and signal lines over the substrate;    a storage capacity line between the gate lines;    plural pads;    a first insulative layer between the plural pads and the storage capacity line, wherein the plural pads, insulative layer, and storage capacity line form a capacitor;    a transistor having an electrode;    a pixel line connected to the electrode of the transistor;    a second insulative layer, wherein first through holes and second through holes are formed through the second insulative layer; and    pixel electrodes extending from the first through holes to the second through holes to electrically connect the pixel line and the pads.    
   
   
       2 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the second insulative layer is over the pixel line and the pads.  
   
   
       3 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the storage capacity line, plural pads, and transistor are part of a pixel, the display device further comprising common electrodes to surround the pixel electrodes to provide plural sub-pixels in the pixel.  
   
   
       4 . The display device of  claim 3 , wherein a defective portion of the pixel is removed from the pixel by cutting a corresponding one of the sub-pixels from the pixel.  
   
   
       5 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the second insulative layer comprises a resin layer.  
   
   
       6 . The display device of  claim 1 , wherein the pixel electrodes are formed of indium tin oxide.
