Abstract
The invention relates to the discovery and characterization of mannan binding lectin-associated serine protease-2 (MASP-2), a new serine protease that acts in the MBLectin complement fixation pathway.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of treatment comprising administration of a pharmaceutically effective amount of an inhibitor of MASP-2 to an individual suffering from excessive activity of the MBLectin pathway.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said inhibitor inhibits the complement activating activity of MASP-2.
3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said inhibitor inhibits the serine protease activity of MASP-2.
4 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said inhibitor prevents the formation of a functional complex of MASP-2 and MBL.
5 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said inhibitor is a MASP-2 antibody.
6 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said inhibitor is administered to regulate inflammation caused by activity of the MBLectin pathway.
7 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein said excessive activity of the MBLectin pathway is caused by excessive MASP-2 activity.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
