Light guide for tools or firearms
Abstract
A light source guide for attachment to a bottom of a grip of a handgun, a bottom of a firearm magazine, a hand tool or the like, used for resting on top of a portion of the light. The guide is adaptable for receipt on different sizes, shapes, types and lengths of light sources. The light source guide preferably includes a guide base having a upper surface and a first rail and a second rail extending downwardly and outwardly from opposite sides of a bottom surface of the guide base. The first and second rails and the bottom surface of the guide base are preferably adapted for rapid engagement to the top of a suitable light source. Also, the guide base can include at least one aiming wedge disposed between the upper surface of the guide base and the bottom of the implement to which it attaches. The aiming wedges are used for adjusting vertically the alignment of the flashlight beam relative to the line of sight of the handgun or hand tool so that they at a selected distance.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A light source guide for a handgun, comprising:
a base plate portion arranged to engage base plate engagement rails of a handgun magazine; an aiming wedge portion formed integrally with the base plate portion and providing vertical alignment of a light source with a line of sight of the handgun; and a guide base portion formed integrally with the aiming wedge portion and arranged to align a light source with respect to a line of sight of the handgun.
2 . The light source guide of claim 1 , wherein the base plate portion comprises a magazine engagement rail extending around a floor, and wherein the magazine engagement rail and the floor are sized and shaped to slidably engage said base plate engagement rails.
3 . The light source guide of claim 2 , wherein the base plate portion comprises a mounting hole for engaging a retainer of said handgun magazine.
4 . The light source guide of claim 1 , wherein the guide base portion comprises first and second rails and extending downwardly and outwardly from opposite sides thereof.
5 . The light source guide of claim 1 , wherein the guide base portion is arranged such that the light source can be aligned and stabilized by a user's hand without attaching the light source to the guide base portion.
6 . A magazine and light source guide assembly for a handgun, comprising:
a magazine for storing and dispensing ammunition, said magazine comprising base plate engagement rails at a bottom of said magazine for engaging a base plate; and a light source guide for securing a light source, said light source guide comprising:
a base plate portion arranged to engage said base plate engagement rails;
an aiming wedge portion formed integrally with the base plate portion and providing vertical alignment of said light source with a line of sight of said handgun; and
a guide base portion formed integrally with the aiming wedge portion and arranged to align the light source with respect to a line of sight of the handgun.
7 . The magazine and light source guide assembly of claim 6 , wherein the base plate portion comprises a magazine engagement rail extending around a floor, and wherein the magazine engagement rail and the floor are sized and shaped to slidably engage said base plate engagement rails.
8 . The magazine and light source guide assembly of claim 7 , wherein the base plate portion comprises a mounting hole for engaging a retainer of said magazine.
9 . The magazine and light source guide assembly of claim 6 , wherein the guide base portion comprises first and second rails and extending downwardly and outwardly from opposite sides thereof.
