Toy building pieces
Abstract
A toy comprises a plurality of building pieces that can be selectively interconnected using either interfitting bulbs and sockets or magnetic coupling parts, or both. Each building piece has a generally circular body that includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced connecting bulbs about an outer periphery thereof and a plurality of connecting sockets located inwardly from the bulbs on at least the front side of the body. The magnetic coupling part is located on at least the backside of the body and is rotatably secured to the body to permit the body to spin relative to the magnetic coupling part.

20 . A toy as claimed in claim 19 ,
said magnetic coupling part and said body of each piece being rotatably interconnected to permit the body to spin relative to the magnetic coupling part.
21 . A toy as claimed in claim 19 ,
said plurality of pieces including a plurality of first pieces, each of which has one side of its body presenting a convex central portion having said connecting sockets formed therein.
22 . A toy as claimed in claim 21 ,
said connecting bulbs being joined to said central portion by generally radially extending necks.
23 . A toy as claimed in claim 22 ,
said bulbs being asymmetrically shaped to present an enlarged portion offset laterally from a longitudinal axis of the neck.
24 . A toy as claimed in claim 23 ,
said magnetic coupling part and said body of each first piece being rotatably interconnected to permit the body to spin relative to the magnetic coupling part.
25 . A toy as claimed in claim 24 ,
said plurality of pieces including a plurality of second pieces, each of which has one side of its body provided with a convex central portion, said connecting bulbs being joined directly to said central portion.
26 . A toy as claimed in claim 25 ,
said magnetic coupling part and said body of each second piece being rotatably interconnected to permit the body to spin relative to the magnetic coupling part.
27 . A toy as claimed in claim 26 ,
said plurality of pieces including a plurality of third pieces, each of which includes a central hub and a plurality of spokes projecting generally radially outwardly from said hub, said bulbs being disposed at the outer ends of said spokes.
