Abstract

A method, apparatus, and system for routing changes to information between a plurality of content nodes and a command memory of a content router. Content nodes may be user devices (such as mobile phones) and user accounts (such as email accounts). Content nodes may hold one or more content types such as email, contacts, tasks, events and library items. A command memory centralizes conflict detection, resolution and error handling within a content routing system.

1 . A content routing system for routing changes to information between a plurality of content nodes, the content routing system comprising: 
 store and forward logic comprising logic for: 
 selecting destination content nodes based on content type of an incoming command and one or more routing parameters;  
 modifying the incoming command to generate a normalized command; and  
 modifying the normalized command to generate at least one outgoing command, wherein each outgoing command corresponds to a selected content node;  
   command memory for holding the normalized command; and    a connected data set configuration for holding the one or more routing parameters.    
   
   
       2 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the command memory comprises an incoming queue for holding the incoming command.  
   
   
       3 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the command memory comprises an outgoing queue for holding the outgoing commands.  
   
   
       4 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the incoming command is received directly from the content node by processing logic operable to modify the incoming command.  
   
   
       5 . The content routing system of  claim 4 , wherein the processing logic is further operable to store the normalized command in the command memory.  
   
   
       6 . The content routing system of  claim 5 , wherein processing logic is further operable to modify the normalized command to generate the outgoing command for each selected content node.  
   
   
       7 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the processing logic is further operable to initiate a push of at least one outgoing command to at least one content node.  
   
   
       8 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the store and forward logic is further operable for resolving a conflict between the incoming command and a command in the command memory.  
   
   
       9 . The content routing system of  claim 1 , wherein the store and forward logic is further operable for receiving the incoming command before sending an outgoing command to a selected destination content node.  
   
   
       10 . A method of routing changes to information between a plurality of content nodes and a command memory, the method comprising, at a content router: 
 receiving an incoming command from a first content node;    storing the incoming command in a command memory;    selecting a set of destination content nodes based on a routing parameter associated with the destination content node and a content type of the command;    modulating the incoming command to generate a normalized command; and    modulating the normalized command based on capabilities of the destination content node to generate an outgoing command for the destination content node.    
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the command memory comprises an incoming queue for holding the incoming command.  
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the command memory comprises an outgoing queue for holding the outgoing commands.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein the incoming command is received directly from the content node by processing logic operable to modify the incoming command.  
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13 , further comprising storing the normalized command in a command memory.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising modifying the normalized command to generate the outgoing command for each selected content node.  
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising initiating a push of at least one outgoing command to at least one content node.  
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 10 , further comprising resolving a conflict between the incoming command and a command in the command memory.  
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 10 , wherein further comprising receiving the incoming command before sending an outgoing command to a selected destination content node.  
   
   
       19 . A computer program product comprising program code for use in a content routing system comprising processing logic and a command memory, the content routing system for routing changes to information between a plurality of content nodes and the command memory, the computer program product comprising: 
 program code for receiving an incoming command from a first content node;    program code for selecting a set of destination content nodes based on a content type of the incoming command and a routing parameter associated with the destination content node;    program code for modulating the incoming command based on capabilities of the destination content node to generate a normalized command; and    program code for modulating the normalized command to generate an outgoing command for each of the destination content nodes.    
   
   
       20 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , wherein the command memory comprises an incoming queue for holding the incoming command.  
   
   
       21 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , wherein the command memory comprises an outgoing queue for holding the outgoing commands.  
   
   
       22 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , wherein the incoming command is received directly from the content node by processing logic operable to modify the incoming command.  
   
   
       23 . The content routing system of  claim 22 , wherein the processing logic is further operable to store the normalized command in the command memory.  
   
   
       24 . The content routing system of  claim 23 , wherein processing logic is further operable to modify the normalized command to generate the outgoing command for each selected content node.  
   
   
       25 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , further comprising program code operable to initiate a push of at least one outgoing command to at least one content node.  
   
   
       26 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , further comprising program code operable for resolving a conflict between the incoming command and a command in the command memory.  
   
   
       27 . The computer program product of  claim 19 , further comprising program code for receiving the incoming command before sending an outgoing command to a selected destination content node.
