Abstract

An amusement device including a support structure, a carriage suspended from the support structure and a vortex generator adapted to generate a vortex airflow such that the carriage interacts with the vortex airflow.

1 . An amusement device comprising: 
 a support structure;    a carriage suspended from said support structure; and    a vortex generator adapted to generate a vortex airflow such that said carriage interacts with said vortex airflow.    
   
   
       2 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said support structure includes at least one arch.  
   
   
       3 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said carriage is connected to said support structure by at least one suspension element.  
   
   
       4 . The amusement device of  claim 3  wherein said suspension element is elastic.  
   
   
       5 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said vortex generator is disposed beneath said support structure.  
   
   
       6 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said carriage is suspended generally over said vortex generator.  
   
   
       7 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said vortex airflow is controllable.  
   
   
       8 . The amusement device of  claim 1  further comprising a hoist system adapted to move said carriage relative to said support structure.  
   
   
       9 . The amusement device of  claim 1  further comprising a swivel disposed between said carriage and said support structure.  
   
   
       10 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said vortex generator includes a blower.  
   
   
       11 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said vortex generator includes an airfoil array.  
   
   
       12 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said vortex airflow has a generally conical shape.  
   
   
       13 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said carriage includes at least on aerodynamic surface adapted to interact with said vortex airflow.  
   
   
       14 . The amusement device of  claim 1  wherein said carriage includes at least one passenger seat.  
   
   
       15 . An amusement device comprising: 
 a support structure;    a carriage connected to said support structure at a connection point by at least one suspension element; and    a vortex generator including a vortex outlet generally aligned with said connection point.    
   
   
       16 . The amusement device of  claim 15  wherein said vortex generator is adapted to generate a vortex airflow that interacts with said carriage.  
   
   
       17 . The amusement device of  claim 15  wherein said suspension element is elastic.  
   
   
       18 . The amusement device of  claim 15  further comprising a hoist system adapted to move said carriage relative to said support structure.  
   
   
       19 . The amusement device of  claim 15  further comprising a swivel disposed between said carriage and said support structure.  
   
   
       20 . The amusement device of  claim 15  wherein said carriage includes at least one passenger seat.
