Abstract

A Lock-In Training system. The Lock-In Training system can include an appropriately programmed Web site and a user computer. The Lock-In Training system can also include an appropriately programmed stand-alone computer. Some embodiments of the invention allow student users to efficiently learn materials by taking Lock-In Training courses. A Lock-In Training course may include one or more Lock-In Training sessions. These sessions may include one or more Lock-In Training parts. These parts can include a group of questions and answers. The answers can include one or more keywords. A student user can lock-in material by entering keywords in response to questions. The questions may be presented in Introductory rounds and/or Retention rounds on one or more training days.

       40 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following acts: 
 retrieving a keyword, which forms a part of an answer to a question in a training course, from a program storage device;    retrieving a word, which is not a keyword and which forms a second part of the answer to the question, from the program storage device; and    generating a Web document for use in a training course, the Web document including an answer to the question, the answer including the keyword and the word, the keyword being in a first font and the word being in a second font.    
   
   
       41 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following act: 
 generating a Web document for use in a training course, the Web document including a question, the Web document including the complete answer to the question, the complete answer including at least one keyword in a first font and at least one other word, that is not a keyword, in a second font.    
   
   
       42 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following act: 
 generating a Web document for use in a training course, the Web document including a question, the Web document including the complete answer to the question, the complete answer to the question including at least one keyword, the Web document also including a partial answer to the question that does not include the keyword.    
   
   
       43 . The program storage device of  claim 42 , wherein the partial answer to the question includes an indication of the number of characters in the keyword.  
   
   
       44 . The program storage device of  claim 43 , wherein the indication is a plurality of non-continuous underlines.  
   
   
       45 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following acts: 
 retrieving a keyword, which forms a part of an answer to a question in a training course, from a program storage device;    retrieving a word, which is not a keyword and which forms a second part of the answer to the question, from the program storage device; and    generating an image on a computer display for use in a training course, the image including an answer to the question, the answer including the keyword and the word, the keyword being in a first font and the word being in a second font.    
   
   
       46 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following act: 
 generating an image for use in a training course, the image including a question, the image including the complete answer to the question, the complete answer including at least one keyword in a first font and at least one other word, that is not a keyword, in a second font.    
   
   
       47 . A program storage device, the program storage device containing computer readable instructions, that when executed by a computer, perform the following act: 
 generating an image for use in a training course, the image including a question, the image including the complete answer to the question, the complete answer to the question including at least one keyword, the image also including a partial answer to the question that does not include the keyword.    
   
   
       48 . The program storage device of  claim 47 , wherein the partial answer to the question includes an indication of the number of characters in the keyword.

 displaying on a computer display, a question, a complete answer to the question, and a partial answer to the question;    receiving information from a user of a training system; and    updating the displayed partial answer to include the received information.    
   
   
       51 . The method of  claim 50 , wherein the received information is a keyword of the complete answer to the question.  
   
   
       52 . A method comprising: 
 displaying on a computer display, a question, a complete answer to the question, and a partial answer to the question;    receiving information that corresponds to a character from a user of a training system; and    if the received information corresponds to the first character in the first word that is present in the complete answer to the question but is not present in the partial answer to the question, then updating the displayed partial answer to include the character;    else displaying an indication that the character is not the first character in the first word that is present in the complete answer to the question but is not present in the partial answer to the question.    
   
   
       53 . The method of  claim 52 , wherein the indication includes displaying an error message.  
   
   
       54 . The method of  claim 52 , wherein the indication includes displaying the character in a color that is different from the color utilized to update the displayed partial answer.  
   
   
       55 . The method of  claim 52 , wherein the indication includes displaying the character in a font that is different from the font utilized to update the displayed partial answer.  
   
   
       56 . A method comprising: 
 displaying on a computer display, a question, a complete answer to the question, and a partial answer to the question;    receiving information that corresponds to a first character from a user of a training system;    if the received information does not correspond to the first character in the first word that is present in the complete answer to the question but is not present in the partial answer to the question, then displaying the first character on the computer display;    receiving information that corresponds to a second character from the user; and    if the received information does not correspond to the first character in the first word that is present in the complete answer to the question but is not present in the partial answer to the question, then replacing the first character on the computer display with the second character.    
   
   
       57 . The method of  claim 56 , wherein the receiving information that corresponds to the first character includes receiving information from a computer keyboard.  
   
   
       58 . The method of  claim 56 , wherein the receiving information that corresponds to the first character includes receiving information from a mouse.  
   
   
       59 . The method of  claim 56 , wherein the receiving information that corresponds to the first character includes receiving information from a microphone.  
   
   
       60 . The method of  claim 56 , wherein the receiving information that corresponds to the first character includes receiving information from a touch pad.

 displaying on a computer display, a question and a partial answer to the question, the question having a complete answer that includes at least one keyword;    displaying a hint object;    receiving information from a user of a training system indicating that the user selected the hint object;    based upon the receipt of the information, updating the display of the partial answer to include at least one additional character.    
   
   
       64 . The method of  claim 63 , wherein the at least one additional character includes the first character of at least one word.  
   
   
       65 . The method of  claim 63 , wherein the at least one additional character includes the first character of the at least one keyword in the complete answer to the question.
