Collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container

Abstract

A hanging holder for beverage container includes a blank which after folding and securing together forms holder with a closed bottom and open top. A lock mechanism has a portion formed on bottom wall and another portion on side wall of holder retains bottom wall closed. Another mechanism engages a portion of a pair of adjacent sidewalls for securing them together. A tab member extends upwardly from one edge of holder adjacent its open top. A plurality of slots are formed in tab member beginning adjacent such upper edge of holder and ending a predetermined distance therefrom for engaging a surface such holder is to be hung. A pair of slits are disposed between upper edge of holder and bottom of tab member. One slit extends from first outer edge of tab member inwardly to an edge of one slot and another slit extends from a second outer edge of tab member inwardly to an edge of another slot.

1 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, said collapsible type hanging holder comprising: 
 (a) a blank cut from a predetermined material such that after folding and securing together said blank will form said hanging holder for such beverage container having each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size, said hanging holder having a closed bottom and an open top for receiving such beverage container therein;    (b) a fastening means having a first portion formed on a bottom wall of said hanging holder and a second portion disposed on a predetermined side wall of said hanging holder for retaining said bottom wall in a closed position after said folding and during use;    (c) means engageable with at least a portion of each of a pair of adjacent sidewalls for securing them together to form at least a portion of said predetermined shape of said hanging holder;    (d) at least one tab like member extending upwardly from at least one predetermined edge of said hanging holder adjacent said open top;    (e) a plurality of slot like apertures formed in said at least one tab like member beginning adjacent said upper edge of said hanging holder and ending a predetermined distance therefrom for engaging a predetermined surface said hanging holder for such beverage container is to be hung from; and    (f) a pair of slits disposed between said predetermined upper edge of said hanging holder and a bottom of said at least one tab like member, a first one of said pair of slits extending from a first outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a first one of said plurality of slot like apertures and a second one of said pair of slits extending from a second outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a second one of said plurality of slot like apertures.    
   
   
       2 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said predetermined material is cardboard.  
   
   
       3 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 2 , wherein said cardboard is corrugated.  
   
   
       4 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said predetermined shape of said hanging holder is generally rectangular.  
   
   
       5 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 4 , wherein said generally rectangular shape of said hanging holder is substantially square.  
   
   
       6 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said fastening means includes a locking tab.  
   
   
       7 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said means engageable with said at least a portion of each of said pair of adjacent sidewalls for securing them together is one of a tab like locking means and an adhesive.  
   
   
       8 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 7 , wherein said means engageable with said at least a portion of said pair of adjacent sidewalls for securing them together is an adhesive.  
   
   
       9 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said plurality of slot like members is two.  
   
   
       10 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said blank is a single piece.  
   
   
       11 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein such predetermined surface said hanging holder is to be hung from is a substantially horizontally disposed surface.  
   
   
       12 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 11 , said substantially horizontally disposed surface is selected from a portion of a shopping cart and an automotive type window.  
   
   
       13 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 1 , wherein said at least one tab like member is a pair of tab like members.  
   
   
       14 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 13 , wherein said hanging holder further includes another pair of tab like members which are engageably secured with said pair of tab like members.  
   
   
       15 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 14 , wherein said another pair of tab like members are secured to said pair of tab like members by means of an adhesive.  
   
   
       16 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, said collapsible type hanging holder comprising: 
 (a) a blank cut from a predetermined material such that after folding and securing together said blank will form said hanging holder for such beverage container having each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size, said hanging holder having a closed bottom and an open top for receiving such beverage container therein; said blank including: 
 (i) a substantially rectangular bottom panel having a predetermined size;  
 (ii) a substantially rectangular first back panel integrally formed with a first edge of said bottom panel;  
 (iii) a substantially rectangular front panel integrally formed with a radially opposed second edge of said bottom panel;  
 (iii) a first substantially rectangular side panel having a first edge integrally formed on a first edge of said front panel;  
 (iv) a second substantially rectangular side panel having a first edge integrally formed on a radially opposed second edge of said front panel;  
 (v) a substantially rectangular second back panel integrally formed with a second edge of said second substantially rectangular side panel;  
 (vi) a tab like section integrally formed on a second edge of said substantially rectangular first side panel;  
 (vii) a means engageable with at least a portion of said second back panel member and with said tab section for securing them together to form at least a portion of said predetermined shape of said hanging holder;  
 (viii) at least one tab like member extending upwardly from at least one predetermined edge of said hanging holder adjacent said open top;  
 (ix) a plurality of slot like apertures formed in said at least one tab like member beginning adjacent said upper edge of said hanging holder and ending a predetermined distance therefrom for engaging a predetermined surface said hanging holder for such beverage container is to be hung from; and  
 (x) a pair of slits disposed between said predetermined upper edge of said hanging holder and a bottom of said at least one tab like member, a first one of said pair of slits extending from a first outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a first one of said plurality of slot like apertures and a second one of said pair of slits extending from a second outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a second one of said plurality of slot like apertures.  
   
   
   
       17 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 16 , wherein said bottom panel further includes a projection that is engageable with an indentation disposed on said second back panel when said blank has been folded and formed into said hanging holder for additional strength.  
   
   
       18 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, said collapsible type hanging holder comprising: 
 (a) a blank cut from a predetermined material such that after folding and securing together said blank will form said hanging holder for such beverage container having each of a predetermined shape and a predetermined size, said hanging holder having a closed bottom and an open top for receiving such beverage container therein; said blank including: 
 (i) a substantially rectangular back panel having a predetermined size;  
 (ii) a substantially rectangular first side panel having a first edge integrally formed with a first edge of said substantially rectangular back panel;  
 (iii) a substantially rectangular second side panel having a first edge integrally formed with a second edge of said substantially rectangular back panel;  
 (iv) a substantially rectangular front panel having a first edge integrally formed with a second edge of said substantially rectangular second side panel;  
 (v) a tab section having a first predetermined shape integrally formed on a second edge of said substantially rectangular front panel for securing engagement with said substantially rectangular first side panel when said blank has been folded and formed into a holder;  
 (vi) a first bottom portion having a second predetermined shape integrally formed on a third edge of said substantially rectangular first side panel;  
 (vii) a second bottom portion having a third predetermined shape integrally formed on a second edge of said substantially rectangular second side panel;  
 (viii) a third bottom portion having a fourth predetermined shape integrally formed with a third edge of said substantially rectangular back panel;  
 (ix) a fourth bottom portion having a fifth predetermined shape integrally formed with a third edge of said substantially rectangular front panel;  
 (x) a means engageable with at least a portion of said first side panel and with said tab section for securing them together to form at least a portion of said predetermined shape of said hanging holder;  
 (xi) at least one tab like member extending upwardly from at least one predetermined edge of said hanging holder adjacent said open top;  
 (xii) a plurality of slot like apertures formed in said at least one tab like member beginning adjacent said upper edge of said hanging holder and ending a predetermined distance therefrom for engaging a predetermined surface said hanging holder for such beverage container is to be hung from; and  
 (xiii) a pair of slits disposed between said predetermined upper edge of said hanging holder and a bottom of said at least one tab like member, a first one of said pair of slits extending from a first outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a first one of said plurality of slot like apertures and a second one of said pair of slits extending from a second outer edge of said at least one tab like member inwardly to an outermost edge of a second one of said plurality of slot like apertures.  
   
   
   
       19 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 18 , wherein said first bottom portion and said second bottom portion are folded in first in forming a bottom for said hanging holder.  
   
   
       20 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 19 , wherein said third bottom portion 
 and said fourth bottom portion are then folded in to form said bottom of said hanging holder.    
   
   
       21 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 20 , wherein each of said third bottom portion and said fourth bottom portion have a slit disposed therein for interlocking said third bottom portion with said fourth bottom portion.  
   
   
       22 . A collapsible type hanging holder for a beverage container, according to  claim 21 , wherein each of said third bottom portion and said fourth bottom portion further include a tab like member having adhesive applied to one side for securing engagement with said first bottom portion and said second bottom portion.
