Sportswear wrap garment

Abstract

A sportswear garment is provided for wearing around the waist when needed to enhance the comfort of athletes such as joggers, skaters, cyclists, and the like. The garment is essentially “T” shaped similar to a sweater, and the arms wrap around a person's waist so that the back outermost layer of fabric covers the person's buttocks and upper thigh area, and wherein the back outermost layer contains at least one safe-keeping pocket, a waterproof protective sitting area, and optionally reflective or iridescent portions for safety. In an alternative embodiment, the wearer's arms can be inserted into the garment arms and the garment wrapped around the shoulders.

A sportswear garment for wrapping around the posterior of a person to enhance the comfort of said person while engaged in, or subsequent to engaging in, outdoor activities, said garment comprised of fabric in the shape of a “T” wherein the arm extensions forming the uppermost portion of the T are composed of at least one layer of material for tying the garment to said person around the waist, or shoulders when not in use, the remainder of the garment being comprised of at least two layers of material and including an inner layer which is in contact with said person's body and an outer layer attached to said inner layer, said garment having at least one pocket disposed on the said outer layer and wherein said outer layer has a protective sitting surface on at least a portion thereof.  
   
   
       2 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  which is essentially in the shape of a sweater but wherein only the edges of said inner and outer layers are joined together leaving a closed interior space between the two layers.  
   
   
       3 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  which is attached to a person's body by tying the ends of the arms.  
   
   
       4 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein the arm are joined by means of one or more buttons.  
   
   
       5 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein the arms are joined by means of a VELCRO fastener.  
   
   
       6 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein the arms are comprised of a single layer of fabric.  
   
   
       7 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein the arms and inner layer are comprised of a material selected from the group consisting of cotton, terry cloth, fleece, synthetic fabrics, cotton jersey, thick cotton jersey, and combinations thereof.  
   
   
       8 . The sportswear garment of  claim 7  wherein the arms and inner layer are comprised of cotton.  
   
   
       9 . The sportswear garment of  claim 8  wherein at least a portion of the inner layer is comprised of terry cloth.  
   
   
       10 . The sportswear garment of  claim 7  wherein at least a portion of the inner layer is composed of fleece.  
   
   
       11 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein the outer layer is comprised of a material selected from the group consisting of cotton, terry cloth, fleece, wool, synthetic fabric and combinations thereof.  
   
   
       12 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein at least a portion of the outer layer is comprised of a water proof material.  
   
   
       13 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein at least a portion of the outer layer is comprised of a material providing a protective sitting surface.  
   
   
       14 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein at least a portion of the outer layer is comprised of a reflective material.  
   
   
       15 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein at least a portion of the outer layer is comprised of an iridescent material.  
   
   
       16 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  which contains at least one pocket on the upper portion of the outer layer.  
   
   
       17 . The sportswear garment of  claim 16  wherein the arms are tubular allowing the wearer to insert his or her arms into the garment and wear the garment in a manner like a sweater.  
   
   
       18 . The sportswear garment of  claim 17  which contains waistband flaps which allows the wearer to secure such flaps at waist level so as to hold the garment snuggly against the wearer's back.  
   
   
       19 . The sportswear garment of  claim 17  wherein the flaps and at least some of the pockets have means for sealing the flaps and pockets.  
   
   
       20 . The sportswear garment of  claim 1  wherein at least one portion of one arm is comprised of an absorbent sweat band material.
