Abstract
A method of forming a dental implant is provided which uses powder metallurgy to form a first section having a rim and a side, the rim being located at an edge of the side, the edge having a contour, the rim defining a non-planar surface and a recessed area that, at the rim, substantially follows the contour of the edge, and a second section for anchoring the dental implant.

using powder metallurgy to form a first section having a rim and a side, the rim being located at an edge of the side, the edge having a contour, the rim defining a non-planar surface and a recessed area that, at the rim, substantially follows the contour of the edge; and using powder metallurgy to form a second section for anchoring the dental implant.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the contour is eccentric.
