Abstract
Multilayer optical films, including but not limited to p-polarizing films, have alternating optical layers at least some of which contain nanoparticles in an amount sufficient to enhance the refractive indices of the optical layers.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A multilayer optical film, comprising:
a plurality of alternating first and second optical layers of differing refractive index; wherein at least one of the first and second layers contains nanoparticles present in an amount sufficient to enhance a refractive index thereof.
2 . The film of claim 1 , wherein the first layers contain said nanoparticles and the first layers are isotropic.
3 . The film of claim 2 , wherein the second layers are birefringent.
4 . The film of claim 2 , wherein the second layers are isotropic.
5 . The film of claim 1 , wherein said nanoparticles include titania particles.
6 . The film of claim 1 , wherein said nanoparticles include zirconia particles.
7 . The film of claim 1 , wherein said nanoparticles are present in an amount of 15 weight percent or greater.
