Abstract
Methods and compositions using plants from the Irvingiaceaes family to reduce or prevent one or more symptoms of Syndrome X in a mammal and provide numerous other health related benefits. Methods and compositions using the Irvinga gabonensis plant to reduce lipid levels, BMI and body weight, blood pressure, triglyceride levels, total amount of fat stored in the body, cholesterol levels, salivary and pancreatic alpha-amylase activity and pancreatic lipase activity, LDL cholesterol, to increase HDL cholesterol, to control blood glucose and to prevent or reduce the effects of insulin resistance, diabetes, and heart disease.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A composition for reducing or preventing the symptoms of Syndrome X in a mammal comprising:
a composition containing an effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family to reduce or prevent one or more symptoms of Syndrome X in a mammal.
2 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the one or more symptoms of Syndrome X include:
a. abnormal or elevated lipid levels; b. abnormal or elevated body fat levels; c. elevated body weight; d. elevated BMI; e. insulin resistance; f. abnormal or elevated blood pressure; g. diabetes; and h. heart disease.
3 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 1 g to 10 g daily.
4 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 2 g to 5 g daily.
5 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 10 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 50 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
6 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 15 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 35 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
7 . A composition of claim 1 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
8 . A composition of claim 4 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
9 . A composition of claim 6 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
10 . A composition of claim 9 , wherein the composition reduced or eliminates abnormal or elevated lipid levels by one or more of the following:
a. reducing triglyceride levels; b. reducing the total amount of fat stored in the body; c. reducing total cholesterol levels; d. reducing salivary alpha-amylase activity; e. reducing pancreatic alpha-amylase activity f; inhibiting pancreatic lipase activity; g. reducing LDL cholesterol levels; and h. increasing HDL cholesterol levels.
11 . A composition for providing on or more health related benefits in a mammal comprising:
a composition containing an effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family to provide one or more of the following health benefits in a mammal: a. reduce lipid levels; b. reduce BMI; c. reduce body weight; d. prevent or reduce the effects of insulin resistance; e. reduce blood pressure; f. prevent or reduce the effects of diabetes; g. prevent or reduce the effects of heart disease; h. reduce triglyceride levels; i. reduce the total amount of fat stored in the body; j. reduce total cholesterol levels; k. inhibit salivary alpha-amylase activity; l. inhibit pancreatic alpha-amylase activity; m. inhibit pancreatic lipase activity; n. control blood glucose levels; o. reduce LDL cholesterol levels; and p. increase HDL cholesterol levels.
12 . A composition of claim 11 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 1 g to 10 g to the mammal daily.
13 . A composition of claim 11 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 2 g to 5 g to the mammal daily.
14 . A composition of claim 11 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 10 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 50 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
15 . A composition of claim 11 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 15 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 35 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
16 . A composition of claim 11 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
17 . A composition of claim 13 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
18 . A composition of claim 15 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
19 . A method for improving or eliminating metabolic risk factors that cause Syndrome X comprising:
a. providing a composition containing an effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family to improve or eliminate metabolic risk factors that cause Syndrome X; and b. claiming that the composition improves or eliminates one or more metabolic risk factors associated with Syndrome X or Syndrome X in a mammal.
20 . A method of claim 19 , wherein claiming that the composition improves or eliminates one or more metabolic risk factors associated with Syndrome X or Syndrome X in a mammal includes claiming that the composition performs or assists with performing one or more of the following:
a. reduces lipid levels; b. reduces BMI; c. reduces body weight; d. controls, improves or prevents the onset or progression of insulin resistance; e. reduces blood pressure; f. controls, improves or prevents the onset or progression of diabetes; g. controls, improves or prevents heart disease; h. reduces triglyceride levels; i. reduces the total amount of fat stored in the body; j. reduces cholesterol levels; k. inhibits salivary alpha-amylase activity; l. inhibits pancreatic alpha-amylase activity; m. properly processes carbohydrates; n. inhibits pancreatic lipase activity; o. controls blood glucose levels; p. reduces LDL cholesterol levels; and q. increases HDL cholesterol levels.
21 . A method of claim 19 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 1 g to 10 g to the mammal daily.
22 . A method of claim 20 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 2 g to 5 g to the mammal daily.
23 . A method of claim 19 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 10 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 50 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
24 . A method of claim 20 , wherein the effective amount of one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is from 15 mg/kg of body weight of the mammal to 35 mg/kg of body weigh of the mammal daily.
25 . A method of claim 19 , wherein the one or more plants from the Irvingiaceaes family is Irvingia gabonensis.
