Abstract

A first detector receives a received signal and extracts the data signals from the received signal. A hard decision converter converts soft symbols outputted by the first detector into hard symbols. An interference canceller extracts the voice signals from the received signal. A second detector is connected to the output of the interference canceller, and extracts the individual voice signals. The second detector is a different detector type than the first detector.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 27 . (canceled)

28 . A method for multiuser detection of a received signal, the received signal including real time data and non-real time data, the method comprising the steps of:
storing the received signal; detecting only one of the real time data or the non-real time data signals and extracting the one data signals from the received signal; outputting the extracted data signals as soft symbols; converting the soft symbols into hard symbols; canceling the hard symbols from the stored received signal; and detecting the other of the real time data or non-real time data signals from the canceled stored received signal, wherein the one and the other detecting steps are performed by different types of detectors.

29 . The method according to claim 28 , wherein the one data signals is the non-real time data signals and the first detecting step includes using a blind minimum mean square error detector.

30 . The method according to claim 29 , wherein the second detecting step includes using a matched filter.

31 . The method according to claim 29 , wherein the second detecting step includes using a RAKE-receiver.

       32 . A receiver comprising:
an antenna configured to receive a plurality of communication signals of differing power levels, the plurality of communication signals including real time data signals and non-real time data signals; a first data detection device configured to detect data of the only one of the real time or the non-real time data signals; an interference canceling device configured to receive the detected data of the one data signals and cancel a contribution of the one data signals from the plurality of communication signals, as an interference canceled signal; and a second data detection device configured to detect data of an other of the real time or the non-real time data signals from the interference canceled signal; wherein the first data detection device is a different type of data detection device than the second data detection device.

33 . The receiver of claim 32 wherein the first data detection device comprises a blind minimum means square error data detection device and the one data signals are non-real time data signals.

34 . The receiver of claim 33 wherein the second data detection device comprises a matched filter.

35 . The receiver of claim 33 wherein the second data detection device comprises a RAKE-receiver.

       36 . A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
an antenna configured to receive a plurality of communication signals of differing power levels, the plurality of communication signals including real time data signals and non-real time data signals; a first data detection device configured to detect data of the only one of the real time or the non-real time data signals; an interference canceling device configured to receive the detected data of the one data signals and cancel a contribution of the one data signals from the plurality of communication signals, as an interference canceled signal; and a second data detection device configured to detect data of an other of the real time or the non-real time data signals from the interference canceled signal; wherein the first data detection device is a different type of data detection device than the second data detection device.

37 . The WTRU of claim 36 wherein the first data detection device comprises a blind minimum means square error data detection device and the one data signals are non-real time data signals.

38 . The WTRU of claim 37 wherein the second data detection device comprises a matched filter.

39 . The WTRU of claim 37 wherein the second data detection device comprises a RAKE-receiver.

40 . An integrated circuit comprising:
an input configured to receive a plurality of communication signals of differing power levels, the plurality of communication signals including real time data signals and non-real time data signals; a first data detection device configured to detect data of the only one of the real time or the non-real time data signals; an interference canceling device configured to receive the detected data of the one data signals and cancel a contribution of the one data signals from the plurality of communication signals, as an interference canceled signal; and a second data detection device configured to detect data of an other of the real time or the non-real time data signals from the interference canceled signal; wherein the first data detection device is a different type of data detection device than the second data detection device.
