Abstract
In a vehicle seat, in particular a motor vehicle seat having a backrest and at least one headrest rod ( 10 ) that is slidingly guided relative to the backrest and is locked in an in-use position and can be unlocked by actuating at least one actuation element ( 21, 23 ), and also having at least one headrest ( 6 ) mounted on the headrest rod ( 10 ), the headrest being adjustable in height and removable by sliding the headrest rod ( 10 ), two different actuation elements ( 21, 23 ) or two different methods of actuating the actuation element are provided for the adjustment and removal processes.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A vehicle seat, comprising:
a backrest, at least one headrest rod, at least one actuation element, and at least one headrest mounted on the at least one headrest rod; the at least one headrest rod being operatively associated with at least the backrest so that
(a) slidingly guided movement of the at least one headrest rod relative to the backrest is at least partially restricted while the at least one headrest rod is locked,
(b) there can be slidingly guided movement of the at least one headrest rod relative to the backrest for adjustment purposes during a first unlocked configuration,
(c) separation of the at least one headrest rod from the backrest is restricted during the first unlocked configuration, and
(d) there can be slidingly guided movement of the at least one headrest rod relative to the backrest for separating the at least one headrest rod from the backrest during a second unlocked configuration; and
the at least one actuation element being selected from the group consisting of
(a) a certain actuation element that is operatively associated with the at least one headrest rod so that
(1) the certain actuation element is actuatable in a first direction to thereby at least partially provide the first unlocked configuration, and
(2) the certain actuation element is actuatable in a second direction to thereby at least partially provide the second unlocked configuration, with the first direction being different from the second direction, and
(b) a combination of at least a first actuation element and a second actuation element, wherein the combination is operatively associated with the at least one headrest rod so that
(1) the first actuation element is for at being actuated to thereby at least partially provide the first unlocked configuration, and
(2) the second actuation element is for being actuated to thereby at least partially provide the second unlocked configuration.
2 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one headrest rod includes at least one adjustment notch and at least one stop notch, the at least one actuation element is operatively associated with at least one locking element, the at least one locking element is for engaging the at least one adjustment notch to lock the at least one headrest rod, and the at least one locking element is for engaging the at least one stop notch to lock the at least one headrest rod.
3 . The vehicle seat according to claim 2: (a) wherein
(1) the at least one headrest rod comprises a certain headrest rod, and
(2) the at least one adjustment notch and the at least one stop notch are disposed on different sides of the certain headrest rod; and/or
(b) wherein
(1) the at least one actuation element being operatively associated with at least one locking element comprises
(i) the first actuation element being operatively associated with a first locking element, and
(ii) the second actuation element being operatively associated with a second locking element,
(2) the at least one locking element being for engaging the at least one adjustment notch, to lock the at least one headrest rod, comprises the first locking element being for engaging the at least one adjustment notch, and
(3) the at least one locking element being for engaging the at least one stop notch, to lock the at least one headrest rod, comprises the second locking element being for engaging the at least one stop notch.
4 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
a guide bushing is in receipt of the at least one headrest rod, the guide bushing includes a head that defines a receptacle, and at least partially within the receptacle is at least one component selected from the group consisting of the certain actuation element, the first actuation element and the second actuation element.
5 . The vehicle seat according to claim 4 , wherein the component is biased, by way of at least one spring, in a manner that urges the component away from at least a portion of the head of the bushing.
6 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one actuation element comprises the combination of at least the first actuation element and the second actuation element, the at least one headrest rod comprises a certain headrest rod, the certain headrest rod includes at least one adjustment notch and at least one stop notch, the first actuation element is operatively associated with a first locking element, the second actuation element is operatively associated with a second locking element, the first locking element is for engaging the at least one adjustment notch to lock the certain headrest rod, and the second locking element is for engaging the at least one stop notch to lock the certain headrest rod.
7 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one actuation element comprises the combination of at least the first actuation element and the second actuation element, the first actuation element is for being actuated in a first direction, the second actuation element is for being actuated in a second direction, and the first and second directions are different from one another.
8 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one actuation element comprises the combination of at least the first actuation element and the second actuation element, the first actuation element is accessible to the user for use in unlocking the at least one headrest rod in order to permit adjustment of the headrest's height, the at least one headrest rod includes at least one adjustment notch and at least one stop notch, the second actuation element is operatively associated with at least one locking element, the at least one locking element is for engaging the at least one stop notch to lock the at least one headrest rod, and the second actuation element becomes accessible and/or actuatable as a result of the locking element being engaged to the stop notch.
9 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one actuation element comprises the certain actuation element, the certain actuation element being actuated in the first direction comprises the first unlocked configuration occurring in response to pressing of the first actuation element, and the certain actuation element being actuated in the second direction comprises the second unlocked configuration occurring in response to turning of the second actuation element.
10 . The vehicle seat according to claim 1 , wherein:
the at least one actuation element comprises the certain actuation element, the certain actuation element being actuatable in the first direction comprises the first unlocked configuration occurring in response to turning the first actuation element in the first direction, and the certain actuation element being actuatable in the second direction comprises the second unlocked configuration occurring in response to turning the second actuation element in the second direction.
11 . A vehicle seat, comprising:
a backrest, at least one headrest rod, at least one actuation element, and at least one headrest mounted on the headrest rod, wherein the headrest rod is operatively associated with at least the backrest so that
(a) slidingly guided movement of the headrest rod relative to the backrest ( 3 ) is at least partially restricted while the headrest rod is locked,
(b) there can be slidingly guided movement of the headrest rod relative to the backrest ( 3 ) for adjustment purposes during a first unlocked configuration,
(c) separation of the headrest rod from the backrest is restricted during the first unlocked configuration, and
(d) there can be slidingly guided movement of the headrest rod relative to the backrest ( 3 ) for separating the headrest rod from the backrest during a second unlocked configuration; and
the actuation element is operative
(a) for being actuated in a first direction to thereby at least partially provide the first unlocked configuration,
(b) for being actuated in a second direction, which is different from the first direction, to thereby at least partially provide the second unlocked configuration, and
(c) so that at least one of the first direction and the second direction comprises a rotary direction.
12 . The vehicle seat according to claim 11 , wherein at least one of the first direction and the second direction comprises a nonrotary direction.
13 . The vehicle seat according to claim 11 , wherein the rotary direction is selected from the group consisting of clockwise and counterclockwise.
14 . The vehicle seat according to claim 11 , wherein the second direction comprises the rotary direction.
15 . The vehicle seat according to claim 14 , wherein:
the rotary direction is a first rotary direction, and the first direction comprises a second rotary direction that is opposite from the first rotary direction.
16 . The vehicle seat according to claim 14 , wherein the first direction comprises a nonrotary direction.
17 . The vehicle seat according to claim 11 , wherein:
the headrest rod includes at least one adjustment notch and at least one stop notch, the actuation element is operatively associated with at least one locking element, the at least one locking element is for engaging the adjustment notch to lock the headrest rod, and the at least one locking element is for engaging the stop notch to lock the headrest rod.
18 . The vehicle seat according to claim 17 , wherein:
the adjustment notch and the stop notch are angularly offset with respect to one another, and the adjustment notch is positioned above the stop notch.
19 . The vehicle seat according to claim 17 , wherein:
the at least one locking element comprises a certain locking element, the certain locking element is for engaging the at least one adjustment notch to lock the headrest rod, and the certain locking element is also for engaging the at least one stop notch to lock the headrest rod.
20 . The vehicle seat according to claim 17 , wherein:
the at least one locking element comprises a first locking element and a second locking element that is angularly offset from the first locking element, the first locking element is for engaging the at least one adjustment notch to lock the headrest rod, and the second locking element is for engaging the at least one stop notch to lock the headrest rod.
21 . The vehicle seat according to claim 11 , wherein:
a guide bushing is in receipt of the headrest rod, the guide bushing includes a head that defines a receptacle, the actuation element is at least partially within the receptacle, and the actuation element is biased, by way of at least one spring, in a manner that urges the actuation element away from at least a portion of the head of the bushing.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
