Abstract
The short term effectiveness of pesticidal articles, for example pesticide impregnated textile covers for use in combating dust mite infestation, is improved by the additional presence of a quick release pesticide thereon, e.g. a wettable powder formulation of the same pesticide as used for impregnation. The invention is of particular value in the area of pyrethroid containing textile covers, e.g. as disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,916,580.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A pesticidal treatment material comprising a textile substrate impregnated with at least one pesticide, wherein the at least one pesticide is present in two forms comprising a first concentration in a first form and a second concentration in a second form wherein the first form is particles of pesticide present deeper in a structure of the textile substrate than the second form in order to slow down rate of release of the particles of the first form from the textile substrate, and the second form which is particles of pesticide being present in the textile substrate substantially on the surface of the textile substrate in order to enable the particles to be released from the textile substrate at a more rapid rate relative to the rate of release of the first form from the textile substrate.
2 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 wherein the second concentration of the second form is a higher concentration than the first concentration of the first form.
3 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the textile substrate is netting.
4 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the textile substrate is a polyester netting.
5 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the pesticide in both forms is the same pesticide.
6 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the pesticide is a pyrethroid pesticide.
7 . The pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the second form of the pesticide is a particulate form prepared from an emulsifiable concentrate formulation of the pesticide.
8 . A pesticidal treatment material of claim 1 or 2 wherein the first form of the pesticide is a particulate form prepared from a wettable powder formulation of the pesticide.
9 . A method of manufacturing a pesticidal treatment article which comprises
impregnating a textile material with pesticide from an emulsifiable concentrate formulation thereof; drying the material; and making the material up into a textile article, the improvement which comprises subsequently spraying the article with a spray prepared from a wettable powder formulation of a pesticide; and drying the sprayed article.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
