Method for knitting a single-piece lingerie item

Abstract

A process for knitting an article of ladies' underwear in one piece of tubular knitwear is provided. The article is knitted with a basque that extends along edging the lower part of the cups of the article. The process includes knitting the basque by holding a plurality of contiguous stitches substantially aligned relative to the direction of the weft, in the areas located facing the cups of the article so as to form, by releasing the contiguous stitches, at least one bead approximately parallel to the basque in the areas, so as to create stays.

1 . A process for knitting an article of ladies' underwear in one piece of tubular knitwear, comprising: 
 holding a plurality of contiguous stitches substantially aligned relative to a weft direction to knit a basque along an edge of a lower part of the article; and    releasing the plurality of contiguous stitches in areas of the basque facing a pair of cups to form at least one bead approximately parallel to the basque in the areas so as to create a pair of stays in the basque edging the pair of cups.    
   
   
       2 . The knitting process according to  claim 1 , further comprising gradually varying a quantity of the plurality of contiguous stitches on either side of a central portion of the areas.  
   
   
       3 . The knitting process according to  claim 2 , wherein said at least one bead varies in cross-section as it moves away from the central portion.  
   
   
       4 . The knitting process according to  claim 2 , further comprising: 
 knitting a first part from a first quantity of the plurality of contiguous stitches in a first row and gradually releasing the first quantity starting from ends of the first quantity, towards the central portion, up to a second row in which a second quantity of stitches less than the first quantity is held, and from which the second quantity of held stitches is released; and    knitting a second part from a third quantity of the plurality of contiguous stitches of a third row, gradually fastening the third quantity, on either side of the third quantity, diverging relative to the central portion up to a fourth row in which a fourth quantity of stitches greater than the third quantity is held and from which the fourth quantity of stitches is released.    
   
   
       5 . The knitting process according to  claim 1 , further comprising coiling the bead by holding fastening stitches before holding the plurality of contiguous stitches and releasing the fastening stitches after releasing the plurality contiguous stitches.  
   
   
       6 . The knitting process according to  claim 1 , further comprising stiffening the areas by knitting the basque with at least one additional yarn in the areas.  
   
   
       7 . An article of ladies' underwear of the bra type, comprising: 
 a piece of tubular knitwear cut to define a pair of free ends, the piece of tubular knitwear having a pair of cups, a lateral part extending from each of the pair of cups, and a basque extending along a lower edge of the piece of tubular knitwear,    wherein the basque includes a stay located in areas of the basque edging each of the pair of cups.    
   
   
       8 . The article according to  claim 7 , further comprising further comprising a pair of straps joined to the pair of cups and the lateral part extending from each of the two cups.  
   
   
       9 . The article according to  claim 7 , further comprising a fastener on the free ends of the lateral parts so as to selectively connect the free ends together.  
   
   
       10 . The article according to  claim 7 , wherein the basque is formed of a double layer.  
   
   
       11 . The article according to  claim 7 , wherein the piece of tubular knitwear comprises polyamide yarns and polyamide covered elastane yarns.  
   
   
       12 . The article according to  claim 11 , wherein the stay located in areas of the basque edging each of the pair of cups further comprises an additional yarn made of PVC.  
   
   
       13 . The article according to  claim 7 , wherein the stays located in areas of the basque edging each of the pair of cups further comprises a bead having two folds.
