Surface stripe, apparatus and method

Abstract

A profiled traffic stripe, method of manufacture and apparatus for applying a traffic stripe to a surface comprising a comb gate for permitting marking compound to be released through a comb for a contoured or profiled traffic stripe.

1 . An apparatus for applying a dynamic surface stripe to a surface comprising: 
 A marking compound reservoir with a comb,    slidably mounted proximate said comb is a comb gate as to selectively occlude said comb.    
   
   
       2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  where in said comb is removably attached to permit alternate comb tooth patterns to be used.  
   
   
       3 . A method of producing a dynamic surface stripe comprising: 
 providing a marking compound reservoir with a comb,    slidably mounting to said marking compound reservoir a comb gate as to selectively occlude said comb,    filling said marking compound reservoir with a marking compound for use in striping,    moving said comb along a surface,    opening said comb gate to permit the release of said marking compound onto said surface.    
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 3  comprising the further steps of selectively opening and closing said comb gate to produce a stripe consisting of segments of low horizontal surface and segments of high profiled surface.  
   
   
       5 . A surface stripe with a plurality of raised angled surfaces.  
   
   
       6 . The surface stripe of  claim 5  wherein said surface stripe is a traffic stripe.  
   
   
       7 . The surface stripe of  claim 6  wherein said raised angled surfaces are substantially co-linear with said traffic stripe.  
   
   
       8 . The surface stripe of  claim 7  further comprising flat segments interspaced with segments of said raised angled surfaces
