Head band with securing device

Abstract

A hair band includes an elongate semi-circular body and a securing device. The body is configured to be placed on and conform to the contour of a user's head, and includes an inner surface that is adjacent the user's hair, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface. The securing device is constructed from a high friction material and is disposed on the inner surface of the body and is configured to engage the user's hair and secure the hair band to the user's head more securely than the material from which the body is constructed.

1 . A hair band, comprising: 
 an elongate semi-circular body configured to be placed on and conform to the contour of a user's head, the body having an inner surface that is adjacent the user's hair, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface; and    a securing device disposed on the inner surface of the body and configured to engage the user's hair and, secure the hair band to the user's head more securely than the material from which the body is constructed.    
   
   
       2 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the securing device is constructed from one of a natural rubber, neoprene, santoprene, TPE, silicone and nylon material.  
   
   
       3 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the securing device includes a plurality of teeth extending substantially parallel to and along the inner surface.  
   
   
       4 . The hair band of  claim 3 , wherein the ends of the plurality of teeth are disposed near an edge of the body.  
   
   
       5 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the body includes a first end disposed opposite a second end and the hair band further includes an elastic connection portion disposed between the first and second ends of the body for retaining the hair band on the user's head.  
   
   
       6 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the securing device extends along substantially all of the inner surface and is constructed from a material having a higher coefficient of friction than the material of which the body is constructed.  
   
   
       7 . The hair band of  claim 6 , wherein the securing device is constructed from a sheet of material that is adhered to the inner surface of the body.  
   
   
       8 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the securing device includes at least one clip having an open position for receiving the hair and a closed position for retaining the hair.  
   
   
       9 . The hair band of  claim 1 , wherein the securing device includes a plurality of beads constructed from a material having a higher coefficient of friction than the material of which the body is constructed.  
   
   
       10 . A hair band, comprising: 
 an elongate body configured to be placed on and conform to the contour of a user's head, the body having an inner surface that is adjacent the user's hair, an outer surface opposite the inner surface, a first end and a second end opposite the first end;    a securing device disposed between the first and second ends of the elongate body, the securing device including a plurality of flexible teeth configured to receive the user's hair therebetween.    
   
   
       11 . The hair band of  claim 10 , wherein the plurality of flexible teeth include a spine at one end and the teeth at the other end.  
   
   
       12 . The hair band of  claim 10 , wherein the elongate semi-circular body and the securing device form a continuous loop.  
   
   
       13 . A hair band, comprising: 
 an elongate semi-circular body having an inner surface adjacent the user's hair when worn on a head of the user, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface; and    a pocket disposed on the body that is accessible through an opening for retaining one or more objects.    
   
   
       14 . The hair band of  claim 13 , wherein the opening includes a closure mechanism for locking the one or more objects in the pocket.  
   
   
       15 . The hair band of  claim 14 , wherein the closure mechanism includes at least one of a hook and loop fastener, and a zipper.  
   
   
       16 . The hair band of  claim 13 , wherein the opening to the pocket is disposed the inner surface of the body.  
   
   
       17 . The hair band of  claim 13 , wherein the pocket is attached to one of the inner and outer surfaces of the body.  
   
   
       18 . The hair band of  claim 13 , wherein the pocket is disposed between the inner and outer surfaces of the body.
