Blind cut down apparatus
Abstract
An apparatus for trimming the width of blinds of the type having a headrail, and a bottom rail and blind slats, and having a support body with a headrail opening, and a bottom rail opening, and a blind slat opening the blind components being insertable into their openings from one side of the support body, a die located adjacent to the support body, a headrail cutting recess in the die, guides on the support body for the die, enabling the die to move relative to the headrail opening between two positions and a bottom rail and blind slat cutter operable to cut the bottom rail and the blind slats. A modified apparatus can be used to trim the width of a vertical blind having a headrail and control rods. Also disclosed is a method of trimming the width of blind, having a head rail, a bottom rail and blind slats.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . An apparatus for trimming a blind having a headrail, a plurality of slats, and a bottom rail, the apparatus comprising:
a stationary support body including a headrail opening, at least one slat opening, and a bottom rail opening; a unitary moveable trimming member mounted proximate to said stationary support body and adapted to move in a plane parallel to said stationary support body; a first cutter on said unitary trimming member adapted to trim the headrail when said unitary trimming member moves in said parallel plane; and a second cutter on said unitary trimming member adapted to trim the bottom rail when said unitary trimming member moves in said parallel plane.
2 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a slat cutter adapted to trim said plurality of slats.
3 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a slat cutter adapted to move independently of said first and second cutters to trim said plurality of slats.
4 . An apparatus for trimming a complete blind having a headrail, a plurality of blind slats and a bottom rail, the apparatus comprising:
a stationary support body including a U-shaped headrail opening sized to accommodate the headrail, at least one slat opening sized and shaped to accommodate the plurality of blind slats, and a bottom rail opening sized and shaped to accommodate the bottom rail, said U-shaped headrail opening, said at least one slat opening, and said bottom rail opening being arranged and spaced apart so that the complete blind including the headrail, the plurality of slats and the bottom rail may be received in their respective openings; a unitary movable trimming member mounted proximate to said support body and adapted to move in a plane parallel to said support body; a first cutter on said unitary trimming member adapted to trim the headrail when said unitary trimming member moves in said parallel plane in a first direction; and a separate second cutter on said unitary trimming member adapted to trim the bottom rail when said unitary trimming member moves in said parallel plane in said first direction.
5 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising a slat cutter adapted to trim the plurality of slats by movement of said slat cutter in said parallel plane.
6 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 5 , wherein said slat cutter is adapted to move independently of both said first cutter and said second cutter to trim the plurality of slats.
7 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 5 , wherein said movement of said slat cutter is in a second direction different from said first direction.
8 . An apparatus as claimed in claim 4 , wherein said U-shaped headrail opening, said at least one slat opening and said bottom rail opening are arranged along a horizontal axis.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
