Abstract
The invention relates to a system, apparatus and method for controlling and/or expelling water from basements or other subterranean rooms. More particularly, the invention relates to a water drainage device that includes a multiple flow channels to allow water to bypass a clogged area of a flow channel. Preferably, one the flow channels is filtered to impede the build of particulate matter and sediment in the channel.
Claims

a frame and filter element,
said frame having a first flow channel, and a second flow channel, said frame formed from a flat sheet of flexible plastic, and
said filter element have a frame and a filter material disposed about said frame, the filter element disposed within the first channel,
wherein the first flow channel is positioned generally above the second flow channel.
2 . The water drainage device of claim 1 , wherein said frame comprises a first wall, second wall, third wall, fourth wall, fifth wall, and sixth wall, wherein the fifth wall has a plurality of openings.
3 . The water drainage device of claim 1 , wherein said first channel is formed by the second wall, a portion of the third wall, and the sixth wall.
4 . The water drainage device of claim 3 , wherein the first wall being flexibly connected to said second wall, the second wall being flexibly connected to said third wall, the third wall being flexibly connected to the fourth wall, the fourth wall being flexibly connected to said fifth wall, and the fifth wall being flexibly connected to sixth wall.
5 . The water drainage device of claim 3 , wherein the sixth wall forms a floor of the first channel and forms a ceiling of the second channel.
6 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 2 , 3 , or 4 , wherein the sixth wall has a one or more connectors extending along a free end of the sixth wall.
7 . The water drainage device of claim 6 , wherein the connectors are adapted to connect to openings disposed about the third wall.
8 . The water drainage device of claim 7 , wherein the connectors are tabs.
9 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 2 , 3 , or 4 , wherein the first wall, third wall, and fifth wall are substantially perpendicular to the second wall, fourth wall, and sixth wall.
10 . The water drainage device of claim 1 , wherein the filter element is adapted to provide filtering into the first flow channel.
11 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 2 , 3 , or 4 , wherein the first wall has a free end along the length of the first wall.
12 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 2 , 3 , or 4 , wherein the second wall, fourth wall, and the sixth wall each have a substantially similar width.
13 . The water drainage device of claim 1 , wherein the first flow channel has an open end along its length.
14 . The water drainage device of claim 1 , wherein said second flow channel is formed by a portion of the third wall, the fourth wall, the fifth wall, and the sixth wall.
15 . A basement drain comprising:
a frame and filter element,
said frame having a first wall, second wall, third wall, fourth wall, fifth wall, and sixth wall, and
a first channel formed by the second wall connected to the third wall, and the sixth wall connected to the third wall,
a second channel formed by the third wall connected to the fourth wall, the fourth wall connected to the fifth wall, the fifth wall connected to the sixth wall, and the sixth wall connected to the third wall, the sixth wall forming a floor of the first channel and forming a ceiling of the second channel, and
said filter element have a frame and a filter material disposed about said frame, the filter element disposed within the first channel.
16 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the first wall being flexibly connected to said second wall, the second wall being flexibly connected to said third wall, the third wall being flexibly connected to the fourth wall, the fourth wall being flexibly connected to said fifth wall, and the fifth wall being flexibly connected to sixth wall.
17 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 15 or 16 , wherein the fifth wall has a plurality of openings.
18 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the sixth wall has a one or more connectors extending along a free end of the sixth wall.
19 . The water drainage device of claim 18 , wherein the connectors are adapted to connect to openings disposed about the third wall.
20 . The water drainage device of any one of claims 18 or 19 , wherein the connectors are tabs.
21 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the first flow channel is positioned generally above the second flow channel.
22 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the frame is formed from a single sheet of rigid, flexible flat plastic.
23 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the first wall, third wall, and fifth wall are substantially perpendicular to the second wall, fourth wall, and sixth wall.
24 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the filter element is integrally formed with the first channel.
25 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the filter element is adapted to provide filtering into the first channel.
26 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the first wall has a free end along the length of the first wall.
27 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the second wall, fourth wall, and the sixth wall each have a substantially similar width.
28 . The water drainage device of claim 15 , wherein the first channel has an open end along its length.
