An apparatus for providing lower back pain relief for use between the human body and a flexible surface consisting of a flexible base member having a first side, a second side, a third side and a fourth side, a flexible top member having a lumbar support portion, a midpoint and two substantially flat sides extending from the support portion to the second side and the fourth side of the flexible base member; a pocket affixed to the flexible top member, the pocket defining an opening for insert of one or more hot or cold packs for maintaining a desired temperature of the apparatus, and a cover having a zipper which can be removably attached to the apparatus, wherein the apparatus is placed between the lower back region of the user's body and the flexible surface.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An apparatus for providing lower back pain relief for use between the human body and a flexible surface, said apparatus comprising:
a flexible base member having a first side, a second side, a third side and a fourth side; a flexible top member having a lumbar support portion, a midpoint and two substantially flat sides extending from said support portion to said second side and said fourth side of said flexible base member; a pocket affixed to said flexible top member, said pocket defining an opening for insertion of hot or cold packs for maintaining a desired temperature of said apparatus; a cover having a zipper, wherein said cover is removably attached to said apparatus by said zipper; wherein said apparatus is placed between the lower back region of the human body and the flexible surface.

2 . The flexible top member of claim 1 , wherein said midpoint has a radius of curvature in a range of about 1.5 inches to 3.5 inches.

3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said flexible top member consists of a plurality of flexible top members removably affixed to said flexible base member.

4 . The flexible top members of claim 3 , wherein said flexible top members are made of fiber fill or polyester.

5 . The flexible base member of claim 1 , wherein said first side and said third side have a length in a range of about 10 to 76 inches.

6 . The flexible base member of claim 1 , wherein said second side and said forth side have a length in a range of about 8 to 38 inches.

7 . The pocket of claim 1 , wherein said pocket is removably attached to said apparatus.

8 . The flexible base member of claim 1 , wherein said flexible base member is constructed of visco-elastic foam or polyurethane foam.

9 . The flexible top member of claim 1 , wherein said flexible top member is made of visco-elastic foam.

10 . The flexible base member of claim 1 , wherein said cover is made of polyester or cotton or a combination of polyester and cotton.

11 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said apparatus is of unitary construction.

12 . The flexible base member of claim 1 , wherein said cover is made of at most 20% polyester and at most 100% cotton or a combination of sateen, jacquard, damask, silk, hemp, wool, linen, ramine, nylon or jute.

13 . The flexible top member of claim 1 , wherein said flexible top member is made of convoluted foam, or visco-elastic foam or polyester fiber or latex or a combination of cotton, cashmere, wool, silk, alpaca, lavender, lyocell, buckwheat, down, feathers, kapok, latex, polystyrene microbeads, or convoluted foam.

14 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said flexible base member is made of polyurethane or convoluted foam.

15 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein said pocket has a length in a range of about 4 to 76 inches.

16 . A method for relieving back pain, comprising:
placing an apparatus between a person's trocanter and rib region of the body when the person is lying on his or her side, said apparatus comprising a flexible base member connected to a flexible top member, a pocket affixed to said flexible top member, and a cover having a zipper, wherein said cover is removably attached to said apparatus by said zipper.

17 . A method for relieving back pain, comprising:
placing an apparatus between a person's apex of sacrum and the lower thoracic region of the body when the person is lying on his or her back, said apparatus comprising a flexible base member connected to a flexible top member, a pocket affixed to said flexible top member, and a cover having a zipper, wherein said cover is removably attached to said apparatus by said zipper.
