Motor vehicle operating data collection and analysis

Abstract

A method of creating a database of vehicle operation comprising recording data at regular intervals and time marking the data. The method also includes recording vehicle location data and uploading the data to a CPU or server. The method further includes collecting data utilizing on-board diagnostic components (OBD) and ground positioning satellite (GPS) systems whereby operator identifiable behavior can be rated for driving safety and other characteristics.

1 . A method of creating a database of vehicle operation data comprising: 
 a) Recording data from a vehicle at regular time intervals; and    b) Time marking the recorded data.    
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising recording vehicle location data at the regular time intervals.  
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising recording data from a plurality of vehicles.  
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising recording data from a plurality of trips.  
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 1  further comprising recording data from a plurality of drivers.  
   
   
       6 . A method of creating a database of vehicle operation data comprising: 
 a) recording vehicle operation data from a vehicle on board diagnostic system at regular time intervals;    b) time marking the recorded data; and    c) repeating steps (a) and (b) for a plurality of trips.    
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 6  further comprising transferring the recorded and time marked data to a CPU or server.  
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 6  further comprising recording vehicle location data at regular time intervals.  
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 6  further comprising recording vehicle operation data for a plurality of vehicles.  
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 6  further comprising recording-vehicle operation data for a plurality of drivers.  
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 6  further comprising using an atomic clock.  
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 8  further comprising using GPS system.  
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 8  further comprising recording location dependant information.  
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 13  wherein the location dependant information comprises weather.  
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 13  wherein the location dependant information comprises traffic or road conditions.  
   
   
       16 . A method of creating a database of vehicle operation data comprising: 
 a) recording vehicle operation data from a vehicle on board diagnostic system at regular time intervals;    b) concurrently recording vehicle location data from a GPS system at regular time intervals    c) time marking the recorded data; and    d) transferring the recorded and time marked data to a server or CPU.    
   
   
       17 . The method of  claim 16  further comprising repeating steps (a) through (c) for a plurality of trips.  
   
   
       18 . The method of  claim 16  further comprising using an atomic clock.
