Data recording and reproducing apparatus

Abstract

A data recording and reproducing apparatus which can easily perform the editing of audio and/or visual data even at the camera site. In the data recording and reproducing apparatus, a VTR portion and an MO disc portion are integrally constituted. Audio and/or visual data input from an outside apparatus is recorded on a video tape by the VTR portion, and further reproduced from the video tape and transferred to the MO disc device at a high speed and recorded. The user of the data recording and reproducing apparatus quickly finds the desired video image by actively utilizing the random access property of the MO disc device and sequentially inputs the same to the VTR device, records the same on the video tape, and performs the editing of the audio and/or visual data.

       8 . A data recording and reproducing apparatus comprising: 
 a data transfer unit;    a first input/output unit connected to said data transfer unit configured to receive a first analog signal, convert said first analog signal to a digital format, and provide the converted first digital signal to the data transfer unit, and configured to receive digital data from said data transfer unit, convert said digital data to an analog format, and output said converted analog data as a second analog signal;    a second input/output unit connected to said data transfer unit configured to receive third data and provide said third data to said data transfer unit, and configured to receive fourth data transferred from said data transfer unit and output said fourth data;    a disc recording and reproducing unit connected to said data transfer unit so that data selected from the group consisting of audio data, video data and combinations thereof may be transferred from said data transfer unit to said disc recording and reproducing unit and recorded in a disc recording medium which may be randomly accessed, and so that data reproduced from said disc recording medium by disc recording and reproducing unit may be provided to the data transfer unit;    said data transfer unit including buffer controller configured to control recording and reproduction of said disc recording and reproducing unit according to remaining capacity of at least one buffering unit for buffering data;    wherein the data transfer unit includes an input buffering unit configured to perform the buffering of said data input from said disc recording and reproducing unit, an output buffering unit configured to perform the buffering of said data that is transferred to said disc recording and reproducing unit, and a recording and reproducing control unit configured to control each of the reproducing operation and recording operation of said disc recording and reproducing unit in accordance with respective remaining recording capacities of the input buffering unit and said output buffering unit; and    wherein the data transfer unit selectably transfers data among any of the disc recording and reproducing unit, the first input/output unit, and the second input/output unit.    
   
   
       9 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the disc recording and reproducing unit includes a magneto-optic disc device.  
   
   
       10 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 8 , wherein the disc recording and reproducing unit includes a HD device.  
   
   
       11 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 8  further comprising a housing, wherein the first and second input/output units are provided in the housing.  
   
   
       12 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 8  further comprising a monitor device that is provided in the housing.  
   
   
       13 . A data recording and reproducing apparatus comprising: 
 a data transfer unit;    a first input/output unit connected to said data transfer unit configured to receive a first analog signal, convert said first analog signal to a digital format, and provide the converted first digital signal to the data transfer unit, and configured to receive digital data from said data transfer unit, convert said digital data to an analog format, and output said converted analog data as a second analog signal;    a second input/output unit connected to said data transfer unit configured to receive third data and provide said third data to said data transfer unit, and configured to receive fourth data transferred from said data transfer unit and output said fourth data; and    a disc recording and reproducing unit connected to said data transfer unit so that data selected from the group consisting of audio data, video data and combinations thereof may be transferred from said data transfer unit to said disc recording and reproducing unit and recorded in a disc recording medium which may be randomly accessed, and so that data reproduced from said disc recording medium by disc recording and reproducing unit may be provided to the data transfer unit;    an editing unit configured to control a reproducing operation of said disc recording and reproducing unit to generate edited data;    said data transfer unit including buffer controller configured to control recording and reproduction of said disc recording and reproducing unit according to remaining capacity of at least one buffering unit for buffering data;    wherein the data transfer unit includes an input buffering unit performing the buffering of said data input from said disc recording and reproducing unit, an output buffering unit performing the buffering of said data that is transferred to said disc recording and reproducing unit, and a recording and reproducing control unit configured to control each of the reproducing operation and recording operation of said disc recording and reproducing unit in accordance with respective remaining recording capacities of the input buffering unit and said output buffering unit; and    wherein the data transfer unit selectably transfers data among any of the disc recording and reproducing unit, the editing unit, the first input/output unit, and the second input/output unit.    
   
   
       14 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the disc recording and reproducing unit includes a magneto-optic disc device.  
   
   
       15 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 13 , wherein the disc recording and reproducing unit includes a HD device.  
   
   
       16 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 14  further comprising a housing, wherein the first and second input/output units are provided in the housing.  
   
   
       17 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus of  claim 16  further comprising a monitor device that is provided in the housing.  
   
   
       18 . A data recording and reproducing apparatus comprising: 
 a data transfer means;    a first input/output means connected to said data transfer means for receiving a first analog signal, converting said first analog signal to a digital format, and providing the converted first digital signal to the data transfer means, and for receiving digital data from said data transfer means, converting said digital data to an analog format, and outputting said converted analog data as a second analog signal;    a second input/output means connected to said data transfer means for receiving third data and providing said third data to said data transfer means, and for receiving fourth data transferred from said data transfer means and outputting said fourth data;    a disc recording and reproducing means connected to said data transfer means so that data selected from the group consisting of audio data, video data and combinations thereof may be transferred from said data transfer means to said disc recording and reproducing means and recorded in a disc recording medium which may be randomly accessed, and so that data reproduced from said disc recording medium by disc recording and reproducing means may be provided to the data transfer means;    said data transfer means including buffer control means for controlling recording and reproduction of said disc recording and reproducing means according to remaining capacity of at least one buffering means for buffering data;    wherein the data transfer means includes an input buffering means performing the buffering of said data input from said disc recording and reproducing means, an output buffering means performing the buffering of said data that is transferred to said disc recording and reproducing means, and a recording and reproducing control means controlling each of the reproducing operation and recording operation of said disc recording and reproducing means in accordance with respective remaining recording capacities of the input buffering means and said output buffering means; and    wherein the data transfer means selectably transfers data among any of the disc recording and reproducing means, the first input/output means, and the second input/output means.    
   
   
       19 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus further comprising an editing means for controlling a reproducing operation of said disc recording and reproducing means to generate edited data.  
   
   
       20 . The data recording and reproducing apparatus, wherein the data transfer means selectably transfers data among any of the disc recording and reproducing means, the editing means, the first input/output means, and the second input/output means.
