Abstract

A bag apparatus for carrying a portable computer comprising six panels where the computer is mounted to an inside surface of the bag and aligned with an opening in the front panel of the bag for quick and convenient access where a user can perform computing tasks ergonomically with the hands and eyes in their normal positions. The bag includes a storage compartment for carrying additional computer components and for general storage.

1 . An apparatus for carrying a computer unit comprising: 
 a bag having a front panel, an opposing back panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, a left panel, a right panel, each panel having an inside surface and an outside surface, wherein the left panel, right panel, top panel, and bottom panel connect the front panel to the back panel, and the top panel including a top opening for providing access to an interior of the bag;    a storage compartment defined by an interior space configured by connecting the front panel to the back panel;    an opening in the front panel for providing access to the computer while the computer is inside the bag; and a computer mounting assembly along the inside surface of the bag for securing the computer to the front panel.    
   
   
       2 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the mounting assembly is selected from the group consisting of snap, clip, pin, toggle, bolt and hole, velcro, screw, and hook.  
   
   
       3 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a footing attached to the inside surface of the bottom panel, front panel, or side panels and a flap attached to the inside surface of the top panel or front panel.  
   
   
       4 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a rigid rim, wherein the rigid rim is disposed around the opening in the front panel.  
   
   
       5 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the front panel is configured as a rigid front panel.  
   
   
       6 . The apparatus of  claim 5  further comprising a docking port adapted for mounting the computer to the rigid front panel and one or more fasteners for securing the docking port to the inside surface of the rigid front panel.  
   
   
       7 . The apparatus of  claim 6  wherein the one or more fasteners are selected from the group consisting of snap pins, stamped plate, stamp plate with receptacle mounts, clips, bent or molded edge, screw, and hook and pin.  
   
   
       8 . The apparatus of  claim 5  further comprising a holder attached to the inside surface of the rigid front panel, the holder having a receiving slot for slideably receiving the computer and aligning the computer with the opening.  
   
   
       9 . The apparatus of  claim 8  wherein the holder is configured as a plurality of channels for receiving and mounting the computer.  
   
   
       10 . The apparatus of  claim 8  wherein the holder is configured as a cage for receiving and mounting the computer.  
   
   
       11 . The apparatus of  claim 10  wherein the cage is hinged to the inside surface of the bottom panel or front panel.  
   
   
       12 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a lining attached to an inside surface of the bag for covering wiring and for supporting one or more computer peripheral accessories.  
   
   
       13 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising one or more pockets attached to an outside surface of the bag wherein the one or more pockets are adapted for passing electrical wiring to the interior of the bag to accommodate peripherals.  
   
   
       14 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a protective flap attached to the top panel, back panel, or front panel.  
   
   
       15 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a partition panel, wherein the partition panel is hinged to the inside surface of the bottom panel or front panel and the partition panel is adapted for levering the computer against the front panel.  
   
   
       16 . The apparatus of  claim 15  wherein the partition panel comprises a wiring mount adapted for connecting the computer to one or more computer peripherals within the bag.  
   
   
       17 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a sound opening located on a top edge of the bag.  
   
   
       18 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a holder attached to the inside surface of the front panel, the holder having a receiving slot for slideably receiving the computer and aligning the computer with the opening.  
   
   
       19 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising a holder configured as an intermediate panel having four sides and a slot for slideably receiving the computer and aligning the computer with the opening, wherein a first side of the intermediate panel is attached to the inside surface of the left panel, a second side of the intermediate panel is attached to the inside surface of the right panel, and a third side of the intermediate panel is attached to the inside surface of the bottom panel.  
   
   
       20 . The apparatus of  claim 1  further comprising one or more bands, each band having two ends wherein one end is attached to the inside surface of the left panel and a second end is attached to the inside surface of the right panel and the one or more bands hold the computer against the front panel.  
   
   
       21 . The apparatus of  claim 1  wherein the front panel is configured as a rigid molded front having a plurality of rigid short walls extending into the bag for receiving the computer.  
   
   
       22 . The apparatus of  claim 21  wherein one or more fasteners secure the computer to the rigid molded front.  
   
   
       23 . An apparatus for carrying a computer unit comprising: 
 a bag having a front panel, an opposing back panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, a left panel, a right panel, each panel having an inside surface and an outside surface, wherein the left panel, right panel, top panel, and bottom panel connect the front panel to the back panel, and the top panel including a top opening for providing access to an interior of the bag;    a storage compartment defined by an interior space configured by connecting the front panel to the back panel;    an opening in the front panel for providing access to the computer from the interior of the bag; and a mounting assembly for securing the computer to the outside surface of the front panel.    
   
   
       24 . The apparatus of  claim 23  further comprising a lining attached to an inside surface of the bag for covering wiring and for supporting one or more computer peripheral accessories.  
   
   
       25 . The apparatus of  claim 23  further comprising one or more pockets attached to an outside surface of the bag wherein the one or more pockets are adapted for passing electrical wiring to the interior of the bag to accommodate peripherals.  
   
   
       26 . The apparatus of  claim 23  further comprising a protective flap attached to the top panel, back panel, or front panel.  
   
   
       27 . The apparatus of  claim 23  further comprising a sound opening located on a top edge of the bag.  
   
   
       28 . An apparatus for carrying a computer unit comprising: 
 a bag having a back panel, a top panel, a bottom panel, a left panel, a right panel, each panel having an inside surface and an outside surface, wherein the left panel, right panel, top panel, and bottom panel connect to a docking port adapted for mounting the computer, and the top panel including a top opening for providing access to an interior of the bag; and a storage compartment defined by an interior space configured by connecting the docking port to the left panel, right panel, top panel, and bottom panel.    
   
   
       29 . The apparatus of  claim 28  further comprising a lining attached to an inside surface of the bag for covering wiring and for supporting one or more computer peripheral accessories.  
   
   
       30 . The apparatus of  claim 28  further comprising one or more pockets attached to an outside surface of the bag wherein the one or more pockets are adapted for passing electrical wiring to the interior of the bag to accommodate peripherals.
