Abstract

A method of and an apparatus are provided for signaling a transmission code set in data broadcasting. A client using the transmission code set signaling method includes a demultiplexer demultiplexing a packetized elementary stream (PES) packet corresponding to a program selected by a user from the broadcasting stream received by the system interface, an image decoder decoding the demultiplexed PES for images, a sound decoder decoding the demultiplexed PES for sound, and a CPU fetching information about a transmission code set of a character string used in an object carousel message from the demultiplexed message PES and decoding the character string used in the object carousel message based on the fetched information about the transmission code set.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A server supporting structures of objects represented in various languages in a broadcasted data stream, the server comprising:
a generator generating an object carousal that comprises objects which comprise data and information about structures of the objects; a processor inserting a transmission code set information into the object carousel, wherein the transmission code set information provides an instruction to interpret character strings representing the structures of the objects; and a transmitter transmitting the object carousal.

2 . The server of claim 1 , if the inserted transmission code set information comprises values indicating ISO 8859-1 standard, the information provides an instruction to interpret the character strings under the ISO 8859-1 standard.

3 . The server of claim 1 , if the inserted transmission code set information comprises values indicating UTF-8 standard, the information provides an instruction to interpret the character strings under the UTF-8 standard.

4 . A system supporting structures of objects represented in various languages in a broadcasted data stream, the system comprising:
a generator generating an object carousal that comprises objects which comprise data and information about structures of the objects; a first processor inserting a transmission code set information into the object carousel, wherein the transmission code set information provides an instruction to interpret character strings representing the structure of the objects; a receiver receiving the object carousal; a second processor retrieving the transmission code set information from the object carousal; and a decoder, selected based on the instruction provided by the transmission code set information, to decode the character strings.

5 . An apparatus for transmitting, by an object carousel, an object including data and a message to reference the data, the apparatus comprising:
a control unit which creates the object and inserts in the message information which indicates an encoding system used to encode character strings within the message; and a transmitting unit which transmits the data and the message.

6 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the object carousel is defined under ISO-IEC 13838-6 Standard.

7 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the message is a broadcast inter ORB protocol (BIOP) message.

8 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the character strings are common object request broker architecture (CORBA) strings defined under CORBA/IIOP 2.1.

9 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the message is a BIOP::ServiceGateway message.

10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the information is included in a general inter ORB protocol (GIOP) codeset service context within the BIOP::ServiceGateway message.

11 . The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the information indicates that the character strings are encoded based on either ISO 8859-1 or UTF-8.
