Abstract
A manual ice and snow melting device comprising a container assembly and a handle assembly. Ice and/or snow is broken up by pegs attached to the container assembly. An ice and snow melting substance, like salt, is inserted into the container assembly and disbursed into the broken pieces of ice and/or snow through apertures in the container assembly. The device is manually operated and can be easily maneuvered on virtually any surface covered with ice and/or snow.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A snow or ice melting device comprising:
a hollow perforated cylindrical container for holding a granular material, said container being rotatable about its longitudinal axis; a plurality of ice or snow breaking pegs extending radially from said container; means for introducing granular material into said container; and a handle assembly having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end attached to said container.
2 . The device of claim 1 further comprising at least one piece of material affixed around the circumference of the cylindrical container that provides adequate traction with respect to said container as it is maneuvered along a surface covered with ice or snow.
3 . The device of claim 1 further comprising a striking mechanism.
4 . The device of clam 1 further comprising disengageable wheels.
5 . The device of claim 2 wherein the material used to provide traction is made of rubber.
6 . A snow or ice melting device comprising:
a hollow drum for holding a granular material, with at least one sealable opening, having a plurality of ice or snow breaking tines extending radially from said drum and having a plurality of apertures therein, said drum being rotatable about its longitudinal axis; and a handle connected to the drum for manipulating said drum.
7 . The device of claim 6 further comprising at least one piece of material affixed around the circumference of the drum that provides adequate traction with respect to said drum as it is maneuvered along a surface covered with ice or snow.
8 . The device of claim 6 further comprising a striking mechanism.
9 . The device of clam 6 further comprising disengageable wheels.
10 . The device of claim 7 wherein the material used to provide traction is made of rubber.
11 . A snow or ice melting device comprising;
container means for holding a granular material, with at least one sealable opening, said container means being rotatable about its longitudinal axis; ice or snow penetrating means for breaking up snow or ice and permitting the granular material contained in said container means to be dispersed amongst and between pieces of snow or ice; dispersal means for spreading the granular material that is contained within said container means; means for maneuvering said container means over the surface to be cleared of snow and ice.
12 . The device of claim 11 further comprising at least one piece of material affixed around the circumference of the container means that provides adequate traction with respect to said container means as it is maneuvered along a surface covered with ice or snow.
13 . The device of claim 11 also comprising a striking mechanism.
14 . The device of clam 11 also comprising disengageable wheels.
15 . The device of claim 12 wherein the material used to provide traction is made of rubber.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
