Abstract

A knife block is formed from two lateral halves ( 20, 22 ), each having an inner profile which comprises a plurality of laterally extending Projections ( 24, 25 ). These projections mesh in a comb-like manner, with spaces ( 28 ) defined between the two halves ( 20, 22 ) when connected together. Each space ( 28 ) is for receiving a knife blade. The two halves ( 20, 22 ) are releasably connected together by a magnet arrangement ( 26 ) to enable cleaning.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A knife block comprising first and second lateral halves, the two lateral halves being releasably connectable together, wherein a plurality of spaces are defined between the inner surfaces of the first and second halves when connected together, each for receiving a knife blade.

2 . The knife block as claimed in claim 1 , wherein each lateral half has an inner profile which comprises a plurality of laterally extending projections along its length, the two halves being releasably connectable together such that the projections of the first half extend into the spaces between the projections of the second half, and the projections of the second half extend into the spaces between the projections of the first half.

3 . The knife block as claimed in claim 2 further comprising laterally extending spaces.

4 . The knife block as claimed in claim 3 , wherein each lateral half further comprises a substantially constant cross section perpendicular to the knife insertion direction.

5 . The knife block as claimed in claim 4 wherein each lateral half further comprises substantially the same cross section.

6 . The knife block as claimed in claim 5 further comprising the outer shape of each half, when viewed from one side, having a quadrilateral symmetry about a line perpendicular to the length of said knife block.

7 . The knife block as claimed in claim 4 further comprising a magnet arrangement that releasably connects the lateral halves.

8 . The knife block as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the magnet arrangement comprises a first plurality of magnets in one lateral half which co-operate with a second plurality of magnets in the other lateral half, and wherein for each pair of co-operating magnets, one is provided recessed and the other is proud.

9 . The knife block as claimed in claim 8 , wherein the magnets each comprise rare earth magnets.

10 . The knife block as claimed in claim 1 further comprises at least one lateral half is provided with a finger recess portion to enable separation of the two halves.
