Water saver adapter

Abstract

When the toilet is flushed, the water fill valve is activated and water begins to flow through the intake valve seat into the tank and refill tube. The refill tube's flow is directed into the overflow/drain tube, which empties into the bowl. The water entering the tank is retained in the tank and begins to accumulate until a predetermined level is reached. When the predetermined level is attained, the water intake valve closes and all flow into both tank and refill tube stops, until the next flush cycle is invoked. The water saver adapter prevents excess water from entering the overflow/drain tube during the flush and refill cycle by diverting a significant volume of water back into the water tank.

1 . The water saver adapter device for use in a toilet of the type having a water tank, a flush port, a water intake valve seat, a refill tube and an overflow/refill tube. The refill tube is connected at one end to the water refill valve and a water saver adapter device at the other.  
   
   
       2 . The water saver adapter device described in  claim 1  is connected from the water refill valve to the adapter via a refill tube. Said adapter is attached to the overflow/drain tube top opening.  
   
   
       3 . The water saver adapter device described in  claim 2  diverts a substantial volume of water from the overflow/drain tube into the water tank. A residual water volume flows into the overflow/drain tube. The diverting mechanism is built into the water saver adapter device with directional spouts to direct the flow downwards and a smaller opening drains into the overflow/drain tube.  
   
   
       4 . The water saver adapter device described in above claims can be utilized in any toilet having a refill tube directed into the overflow/drain tube. The water saver device increases water savings in the 1.6-gallon water saving toilets and substantially more savings is realized in toilets holding substantially more gallons as described in  claim 1.
