Abstract
A portable and scaleable barrier uses a unique combination of feet, interconnecting members and top portions to provide a vehicle barrier that is capable of, for example, lifting the vehicle of the ground and providing substantial undercarriage damage. The interconnecting nature of the barrier allows the barrier to be configured or adapted based on, for example, a particular environmental condition or application.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A vehicle barrier for inhibiting the motion of a vehicle comprising:
a plurality of upright obstacles having a height, a width and a depth, each of said obstacles including a top portion and at least two extending bottom portions; and at least one interconnecting member adapted to interconnect each of the plurality of obstacles, wherein said obstacles are configured such that when contacted by a vehicle, a first of said extending bottom portions engages a ground surface and a second of said extending portions engages the vehicle to at least partially immobilize the vehicle.
2 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein the vehicle barrier is capable of being interconnected to additional vehicle barriers in at least one of a step-type configuration or a wall-type configuration.
3 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein said first extending bottom portion of the obstacle cooperates with the top portion which is contacted by the vehicle to engage the ground surface to stop a vehicle.
4 . The vehicle barrier of claim 3 , wherein said second extending portion of the obstacle is adapted to engage an underside of the vehicle when said first extending portion of the obstacle engages the ground surface.
5 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein at least said second extending portion is of a length such that the vehicle is lifted and immobilized upon the vehicle barrier being struck by the vehicle.
6 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of obstacles are made of steel.
7 . The vehicle barrier as defined in claim 1 , wherein said obstacles are of an inverted T-shaped configuration.
8 . The vehicle barrier of claim 7 , wherein the top portion of the T-shaped obstacle is at least one of rounded, spiked, forked and squared off.
9 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein the interconnecting member is at least one of tubular, T-shaped and a bar.
10 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein said first and second extending portions are any combination of spiked, flat, rounded and forked.
11 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , further comprising a securing mechanism adapted to secure at least one of a pedestrian barrier and a sign.
12 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein the at least one interconnecting member is adapted to secure the plurality of obstacles at a predetermined separating distance.
13 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein said second extending portion is adapted to engage an underside of a vehicle.
14 . The vehicle barrier of claim 1 , wherein the first and second extending portions cooperate with said top portion to act as a fulcrum to lift the vehicle upon the vehicle barrier being struck by a vehicle.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
