Wood interior screen for out-swinging wood window

Abstract

A window system includes an out-swinging window having an exterior surface, and an interior surface. The viewable portions of the interior surface are made of a first material. The window system also includes a jamb. The out-swinging window is pivotally attached to the jamb. A screen assembly is removably mountable to the jamb on the interior surface of the out-swinging window. The screen assembly further includes a frame portion with a viewable portion made of the first material. In some embodiments, the window system further includes a finish strip positionable between the screen of the screen assembly and the frame of the screen assembly and a set of instructions regarding the window system.

1 . A window assembly comprising: 
 a window jamb;    an out-swinging window rotatably coupled with the window jamb, and the out-swinging window includes at least an interior portion having a substantially transparent panel and a viewable portion made of a first material;    a screen;    a frame extending around the screen, the screen is coupled with the frame, and the frame is sized and shaped to couple with the window jamb, wherein the frame includes a first viewable portion coupled over a second portion, and the first viewable portion is similar in appearance to the first material; and    wherein the first viewable portion substantially conceals the second portion.    
   
   
       2 . The window assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the first viewable portion is a layer covering the second portion.  
   
   
       3 . The window assembly of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes a first feature for coupling with the other of the first viewable portion and the second portion.  
   
   
       4 . The window assembly of  claim 3 , wherein at least the first feature is substantially concealed between the first viewable portion and the second portion.  
   
   
       5 . The window assembly of  claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes at least one groove sized and shaped to receive a first projection extending from the other of the first viewable portion and the second portion.  
   
   
       6 . The window assembly of  claim 5 , wherein at least one of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes a second groove sized and shaped to receive a second projection extending from the other of the first viewable portion and the second portion, and the first groove and first projection cooperate with the second groove and second projection to snap-fit the first viewable portion with the second portion.  
   
   
       7 . The window assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the first viewable portion includes a contoured profile.  
   
   
       8 . The window assembly of  claim 1 , wherein the first material includes wood.  
   
   
       9 . A screen assembly comprising: 
 a screen;    an out-swinging window screen frame for use with an out-swinging window frame, the out-swinging window screen frame extends around at least a portion of the screen, the out-swinging window screen frame including a first viewable portion coupled over a second portion, and the first viewable portion has a similar appearance to the out-swinging window frame; and    the first viewable portion includes a contoured profile.    
   
   
       10 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the contoured profile includes curved and straight surfaces.  
   
   
       11 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the contoured profile includes uneven surfaces.  
   
   
       12 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the first viewable portion includes wood.  
   
   
       13 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the second portion includes a first projection and a second projection, and the first viewable portion includes a first groove and a second groove sized and shaped to respectively receive the first projection and the second projection.  
   
   
       14 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , wherein the first viewable portion is snap-fitted with the second portion.  
   
   
       15 . The screen assembly of  claim 9 , further comprising a finish strip between the screen and the out-swinging window screen frame.  
   
   
       16 . A screen assembly comprising: 
 a screen;    a frame sized and shaped to couple with an out-swinging window frame, the frame extends around the screen, and the frame includes a screen cap; and    means for concealing the screen cap.    
   
   
       17 . The screen assembly of  claim 16 , wherein the means for concealing the screen cap includes a first viewable portion coupled over the screen cap, and the first viewable portion has an appearance similar to an appearance of the out-swinging window frame.  
   
   
       18 . The screen assembly of  claim 16 , wherein the means for concealing the screen cap includes a wood layer.  
   
   
       19 . The screen assembly of  claim 16 , wherein the screen cap includes metal.  
   
   
       20 . The screen assembly of  claim 16 , wherein the means for concealing the screen cap is coupled over the screen cap with a mechanical coupling.  
   
   
       21 . A method for making a screen assembly comprising: 
 coupling a screen with a frame, wherein the frame includes a first viewable portion and a second portion, and the frame is sized and shaped to couple with an out-swinging window frame; and    coupling the first viewable portion with the second portion including positioning a first projection within a first groove sized and shaped to receive the first projection, and at least one of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes the first projection, and the other of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes the first groove.    
   
   
       22 . The method for making the screen assembly of  claim 21 , further comprising substantially concealing at least the first projection and the first groove between the first viewable portion and the second portion.  
   
   
       23 . The method for making the screen assembly of  claim 21 , wherein coupling the first viewable portion with the second portion includes snap-fitting a second projection into a second groove, and at least one of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes the second projection and the other of the first viewable portion and the second portion includes the second groove.  
   
   
       24 . The method for making the screen assembly of  claim 21 , further comprising forming a contoured profile on the first viewable portion.  
   
   
       25 . The method for making the screen assembly of  claim 24 , wherein forming the contoured profile on the first viewable portion includes forming the contoured profile with curved and straight surfaces.
