Medical image management system

Abstract

A method of managing medical information is disclosed. A plurality of units of medical information is received at a plurality of networked computers. Each of the plurality of units of medical information is converted into a format compatible with the World Wide Web. Each of the units of medical information received by one of the plurality of networked computers contains medical information distinct from medical information received the other of the plurality of networked computers. An identifier is assigned to each of the plurality of units of medical information, the identifier being unique. Finally, user access is provided to any of the plurality of units of medical information based on inputting the identifier into a World Wide Web browser.

1 . A method of managing medical information comprising: 
 receiving a plurality of units of medical information at a plurality of networked computers;    converting each of the plurality of units of medical information into a format compatible with the World Wide Web;    assigning an identifier to each of the plurality of units of medical information, the identifier being unique; and    providing user access to any of the plurality of units of medical information based on inputting the identifier into a World Wide Web browser;    wherein each of the units of medical information received by one of the plurality of networked computers contains medical information distinct from medical information received the other of the plurality of networked computers.    
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising routing user requests for one of the plurality of units of medical information from a centralized computing system to one of the plurality of networked computers.  
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising storing the user requested unit of medical information based on the identifier.  
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising associating a subset of the identifiers corresponding to a patient, forming an electronic medical record.  
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising routing user requests for the electronic medical record from a centralized computing system to one of the plurality of networked computers.  
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 5 , further comprising storing a portion of the electronic medical record on the one of the plurality of networked computers which received the routed user request.  
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising connecting the networked computers to a system.  
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the system is the public internet.
