Interchangeable cover for a rotational mechanism of a wireless communication device

Abstract

This invention is a wireless communication device ( 100 ) including a first housing ( 220 ) with a housing support ( 250 ) and a second housing ( 120 ) positioned about the housing support, or a portion thereof, so that the second housing may rotate around the housing support. Also, the second housing ( 120 ) includes a circular portion ( 122 ) positioned about the housing support ( 250 ) and an extending portion ( 124 ) extending from the circular portion. When the device ( 100 ) is in a closed position ( 110 ), the circular and extending portions ( 122 & 124 ) of the second housing (120 ) are adjacent to the first housing ( 220 ). When the device ( 100 ) is in an opened position ( 210 ), the circular portion ( 122 ) is adjacent to the first housing ( 220 ) and the extending portion ( 124 ) is away from the first housing. In addition, the second housing ( 120 ) may have multiple position relative to the first housing ( 220 ) in which each position activates a particular function of the device ( 100 ).

1 . A wireless communication device comprising: 
 a first housing;    a second housing movably coupled to the first housing, the second housing being capable of rotating in a plane parallel to the first housing; and    an interchangeable cover attachable to a side of the second housing opposite the first housing, the interchangeable cover including at least one indicator light to provide functionality to the wireless communication device.

         5 . The wireless communication device of  claim 1 , further comprising a locking piece to maintain the second housing adjacent to the first housing.  
     
     
         6 . The wireless communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable cover is positioned about a viewing area of the second housing.

         26 . The wireless communication device of  claim 5 , wherein the locking piece includes a display lens to protect a display of the wireless communication device.  
     
     
         27 . The wireless communication device of  claim 6 , wherein: 
 the first housing is capable of supporting a display; and    the display is visible through the viewing area of the second housing.    
     
     
         28 . The wireless communication device of  claim 6 , wherein: 
 the second housing is capable of supporting a display; and    the display is visible through the viewing area of the second housing.    
     
     
         29 . The wireless communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable cover has a ring-like shape.  
     
     
         30 . The wireless communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable cover may be attached to, and detached from, the wireless communication device by a user without the need of tools.  
     
     
         31 . The wireless communication device of  claim 1 , wherein the interchangeable cover includes at least one selection button.  
     
     
         32 . The wireless communication device of  claim 31 , wherein the interchangeable cover includes three cover selection keys.  
     
     
         33 . The wireless communication device of  claim 32 , wherein the three cover selection keys are situation adjacent to one another at a lower portion of the interchangeable cover.  
     
     
         34 . The wireless communication device of  claim 32 , wherein the three cover selection keys include a left selection key, a right selection key and a menu key therebetween.
