Multi-purpose recreational blanket

Abstract

The present invention is a multi-purpose recreational blanket that serves as a lying pad and allows a user to store and transport desirable and necessary recreational items. The recreational blanket incorporates a storage compartment and an underside made of strong material so the entire blanket can be dragged across the sand, or like surface. One or more compartments are housed in the storage compartment so that desirable items, including clothing, shoes, coolers and like recreational items may be conveniently and securely stored and transported. Mesh or transparent material is used for the storage compartment allowing stored items to be easily seen, accounted for, and accessed. The handles or straps of the recreational blanket allow one or multiple users to efficiently transport the blanket and its contents. The recreational blanket may be easily stored or transported by inserting it in a carry bag.

1 . A recreational blanket comprising 
 an underside;    a lying pad at least partially connected to said underside;    a storage compartment disposed between said underside and said lying pad; and    a strap mounted to said underside.    
   
   
       2 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said storage compartment comprises transparent material.  
   
   
       3 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said storage compartment comprises mesh material.  
   
   
       4 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said underside and said lying pad are connected by a detachable fastener.  
   
   
       5 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a pocket positioned on said lying pad.  
   
   
       6 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a pocket positioned on said underside.  
   
   
       7 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  wherein said lying pad comprises a series of pleats disposed thereon.  
   
   
       8 . A recreational blanket in  claim 1  further comprising a carry bag wherein said recreational blanket may be stored.  
   
   
       9 . A recreational blanket comprising 
 an underside;    a lying pad at least partially connected to said underside;    a storage compartment disposed between said underside and said lying pad; and    a set of handles mounted to said underside.    
   
   
       10 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said storage compartment comprises transparent material.  
   
   
       11 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising wherein said storage compartment comprises mesh material.  
   
   
       12 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a pillow holder mounted to said lying pad.  
   
   
       13 . A recreational blanket in  claim 12  further comprising a blow-up pillow disposed within said pillow holder.  
   
   
       14 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising a pocket positioned on said storage compartment.  
   
   
       15 . A recreational blanket in  claim 14  wherein said pocket is constructed of transparent material.  
   
   
       16 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said set of handles are positioned to allow access to multiple users.  
   
   
       17 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said set of handles are positioned in a triangular configuration.  
   
   
       18 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  further comprising an opening formed on said storage compartment for allowing insertion of said set of handles.  
   
   
       19 . A recreational blanket in  claim 9  wherein said underside and said lying pad are connected by a detachable fastener.  
   
   
       20 . A method of transporting recreational items, comprising: 
 inserting items within a storage compartment, said storage compartment having an underside;    grasping a strap, said strap physically connected to said storage compartment; and    pulling said storage compartment across a distance.
