Method and system for automated migration of media archives
Abstract
A method and system for effectively and rapidly migrating recorded content from one storage-media to a second storage-media. The method and system includes an operator and a robotic handler with multiple processing and analytical tools where the operator loads the storage-media into the robotic handler and ensures each storage-media is placed in an efficient order as determined by the system. The system retrieves the storage-media from the input bay and places it into an appropriate playback deck; migrates the recorded data to one or more destination storage-media in accordance with the established parameters; analyzes the timing, video signal, and audio signal of the storage-media; and periodically calibrates its internal to consistently calibrated quality control.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for migrating storage media comprising:
affixing an identifier to media pre-selected for automated migration processing; inspecting physical condition of said media; dynamically determining a processing mode for migrating said identified media; and automatically migrating said media to stable storage means with said selected processing mode while employing quality control.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of automatically migrating said media includes writing process metadata of a migration process of said selected media into a system log.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of automatically migrating said media includes automatic cleaning and inspecting of said storage media.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising adjusting speed of a cleaning tissue responsive to said inspection.
5 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising sensing data on tape condition, selected from a group consisting of particulate matter level, missing tape, hub tension, and combinations thereof.
6 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising storing said adjusted speed of said cleaning tissue as metadata.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the step of inspecting said storage media for defects includes disqualifying storage media from automatic migration in response to detecting certain physical defects.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the step of automatically migrating said media includes analyzing a signal of said media, wherein said signal is selected from a group consisting of: a radio frequency signal, a video signal, and an audio signal.
9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising correcting errors detected on said storage media responsive to said analyzed signal.
10 . A system for migrating storage media comprising:
an identifier adapted to be affixed to media pre-selected for automated migration processing; physical condition of said media adapted to be inspected; a processing mode adapted to be dynamically determined for migration of said identified media; and a manager adapted to be automatically migrate said identified media from a source to stable destination storage means with said selected processing mode while employing quality control.
11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein said manager for automatically migrating said media writes process metadata of a migration process of said selected media into a system log.
12 . The system of claim 10 , wherein said manager for automatically migrating said media inspects said storage media.
13 . The system of claim 12 , further comprising said manager adjusts a speed of a cleaning tissue responsive to said inspection.
14 . The system of claim 12 , further comprising sensor data selected from a group consisting of: particulate matter level, missing tape, and hub tension.
15 . The system of claim 13 , further comprising said manager adapted to capture and store said adjusted speed of said cleaning tissue as metadata.
16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein said manager disqualifies storage media from automatic migration in response to detection of a physical defect.
17 . The system of claim 10 , wherein the said manager analyzes a signal of said media, wherein said signal is selected from a group consisting of: a timing signal, a video signal, and an audio signal.
18 . The system of claim 17 , further comprising said manager adapted to correct errors detected on said storage media responsive to said analyzed signal.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
